Pimax Crystal Hardware review

Just my own experience with the head set. FYI the battery in the back will power the XR2 chip later on for the stand alone.

Thanks for this information. Just received my order yesterday. After making the connections as the Quick Start instructions describe and attempting my first power up... instead of experiencing the "Wow!" moment that I anticipated, I had another "Crap! Ripped-off by Pimax again" moment, when nothing appeared in the headset. After about an hour of messing around reconnecting, disconnecting, and reinstalling stuff I got the bright idea to eliminate the Pimax Hub and connect the USB cables directly into the PC. Immediately, the headset display became "connected" and was working. I haven't verified that the connection on my Pimax Hub is the exact same problem that you describe, but it sure sounds like it. I'll check it out today and follow up. If so, this needs to be reported to Pimax.

I haven't experienced the same connectivity problems you had with the Pimax hub so far. I'll check mine for the lose connection you had, thanks for the tips. I haven't had the same clarity experience; as I'm fighting with Presbyopia, i.e. eyes over 40.. I ordered the VR Rock inserts, but feel it narrows the sweet spot, adds chromatic aberration on the edge of one eye, (not the other for some reason) and my eye lashes touching the lens insert.. arg, wish I was younger when the Crystal came to market. I also wish they had built in focus adjustment like binoculars do for each eye.. I feel I could then have the clarity and comfortable position with my eyes. I'm considering if Lasik lens replacement in time might help. Wondering if others have had the procedure done and if VR lenses are adjusted for focusing a few feet out in front of you vs looking at a cell screen up close. That can make a big difference if you still need lenses or not after the procedure.

I just tried your method with a phone charger with the usb 2.0 cable. Unfortunately I am still getting less than 2hrs of usage. The charger I am using is a 2A 5v fast charger. It clearly isn't working for me. Please can you give the power specs of your charger? Amps, Voltage and wattage. Thanks.

it looks like some crystal cables have a faulty usb2 cable that does not charge

AVOID PIMAX!!!! Irrespective of how good the Crystal headset is the Pimax customer service is shockingly bad. My 8KX developed audio issues after 6 weeks and I returned it in April (23). Its now the end of July (23) and I've been told they can't replace (as they have none) and all they can offer is a discount on a 12K. To be released when?! I've asked for either a refund or to pay the difference for a Crystal. 2 weeks ago they said they would get back in 3 days. After 2 chasding emails still nothing. I guess I'll have to take them to court to uphold their guarantee. AVOID PIMAX - don't say you haven't been warned!
