Why on God’s earth the Fed ever even mentioned cuts is beyond me. They should have raised one additional 25 bps then paused hawkishly by stating they would pause to let the economy digest, then decide whether to hike further or hold for as long as it takes to tame inflation and left it at that.

Because the unemployment rate was just 0.1% less than expected back in Feb. That's very close just as confirmation I would think. Those employees with 1+ year severance pays have ruined it

@@ssuwandi3240 Unemployment remaining at record lows does the exact opposite. Makes no sense to speak of cuts unless unemployment rises in a material manner and it has not. Get it past 4% with some momentum, then sure. But that’s not what we have.

@@xxyyzz8464 Correct because JPow has admitted some sectiots are still flushed with liquidity like RE but most sectors have been direly squeezed from liquidity. He said to start the MBS run off from the Fed's balance sheet soon but he hasn't confirmed yet about the timeline nor the speed, should be in next Q&A in May
