No decking ,hotel customers will claim off hotel for accidents ect , decking is slippery,unless you get coloured rubber sprayed decking, which might work , and safer iv seen this rubber stuff at campsite pools to stop slipping , but it’s upto you , love the video s

A good point and something I’m sure Dan- the hotel owner- would consider. There is already decking within the garden of the hotel- as long as general upkeep is maintained and appropriate signage utilised the use of decking in a more public space shouldn’t prove to be an issue. However use of composite non slip decking would be the preferred choice! Thanks for watching and commenting! Best, Ed

You do a great job and descriptions of work and materials are exceptional. You are a natural on camera and well spoken. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this pond build. Now for the Butt Rub. That is an American product designed for Pork but also works well for wings if used sparingly. A good steak only needs salt and pepper. Cheers

Thanks for watching and for your feedback Tony! Im not such a fan of butt rub on pork or chicken but its really delicious on a steak! As for the best way to season a steak….agreed, a REALLY good pice of meat needs nothing more then salt, pepper and a slather of butter (and mustard on the side). A squeeze of lemon juice can be quite nice as well. Could be a good topic for a spin-off series….!! Cheers, Ed

Have a question regarding the filter. I'm trying to build a pond. I was gifted a smaller filter box (24.000 l.) like the one you use here, and I would like to see how and what kind of connection/hose you use.. and where do you lead the dirty water of to ??.. Thank you for your video-work.
@CrystalClearAquatics

Hi there, I’m afraid it’s difficult for me to be able to answer your question fully-every system is different and without knowing exactly which equipment you have inc info on pond size/volume, position in relation to sunlight, pond stocking density etc etc I wouldn’t like to give you any firm advice to follow. However in general when running hose from the pond to the filter always use as large a bore hose as the pump and filter will accommodate. 11/2” in general for most ponds (unless very large 10k gallons plus, in which case 2” is preferable, or very small-sub 500gallons I which case 11/4” or even 1” could be acceptable). If in doubt use a wider bore hose! Return depends on whether the system is pressurised or gravity flow. If pressurised ensure outlet pipe is at least equal to the inlet size hose-or bigger. If gravity discharge the filter will dictate what size outlet pipe to use, depending on model. Discharge and cleaning of the filter in general is simply run off into a nearby border-such waste water is fantastic organic matter for plants and so is a shame to waste! Hope this helps, thanks for watching and your comment, Ed

I've got a small shallow pond 2 metres wide and and 3 metres length the depth is 1 and a half metres what plants do you recommend its in a part sun persition I know it's a very small pond but all that I could fit in my dad's garden

Hi Sean, thanks for your comment- based on a pond of this size (and its not that small, plenty of space to include lots of plants and to encourage wildlife) some of the following would be suitable and in scale for a pond of these dimensions; Typha minima (dwarf reedmace) myosotis sp (water forget-me-not) caltha palustris flore plena/alba (miniature marsh marigolds) iris versicolour (sm purple iris) Veronica (brooklime), mentha aquatica (water mint). There’s lots of other potential candidates but there’s a few to get you started! Excuse any spelling mistake re plant names- I’ve been lazy and not checked online with spelling..The addition of some oxygenating weed, such as hornwort would be beneficial as to would some small water lilies and/or some water hawthorn, to provide some floating leaves and surface coverage. Hope this helps! Best, Ed

I have a question for you. I have a 3 tier garden fountain approx 6 ft tall and the lowest bowl is about 42 inches in diameter. The water continually splashes out and I am in the planning stages of adding a 9ft diameter reservoir. I am thinking the least expensive way to accomplish this would be ornamental/paver type stones for the carcas with a pond liner for the actual reservoir in the inner diameter. Would you have any advice for the DIY' er Thanks
@CrystalClearAquatics
@CrystalClearAquatics Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, your issue is a common one and I frequently see lg ornamental tiered fountains set up in either ponds, lg circular reservoirs edged with formal stone or standing above a concealed below ground sump that has a broader water catchment area using pond liner and is concealed beneath cobble/stones. As you say, by far the cheapest and easiest solution is to effectively create a shallow (ish) pool- this can either be raised and part of the feature, or dug below ground level and covered in a grid or such so the surface can be covered in decorative aggregates/cobbles. Presumably the final large bowel you describe (with a dimension of approx 42”) is at ground level and is the reservoir and catchment area of the feature housing the pump? If so you can simply omit this and position the feature onto/above your new- larger- reservoir and catchment. Job done! However, if your tiered water feature has its final tier/reservoir above ground supported on some form of plinth you may struggle to accomplish what you wish to do with out a little more work. Obviously the pump must reside in the final reservoir/catchment area and some tiered water features will have a supportive plinth that doesn’t allow for passage of a hose to run through. In this instance you’ll either have to forfeit this base/plinth, create a new one out of something else that does allow for passage of a water pipe or drill your existing base. Hope this helps and good luck! Best, Ed

@@CrystalClearAquatics Thank you for the suggestions and direction. The 42" inch bowl does have a hole on the bottom edge area and uses a rubber plug which allows the pump power cord to pass through and seals in the water. Beneath this bowl is a concrete support which is approx 18" to 20 " tall. I considered a hidden underground basin but I think we would probably go above ground. My current plan is to build a double wall with a nice cap stone. This will reside where the yard/garden area is slightly tilted. So part of the circular wall will be buried in order to be perfectly level. The pump will reside in the new lower basin and the hose/pipe will pass through the hole in the 42" bowl

Ha Ha! Hi Liam- these particular examples were just from sainsburys- they looked particularly nice so I snapped them up! To be honest usually I purchase a load of steaks from Costco and (controversial!) freeze them. Their meat is always fantastic and although not cheap I’ll pic up 6 big decent sirloins for around £45. They could easily be chopped in half to make more though as they’re so thick/large! The butt rub I source online. Thanks as ever for watching! Best, Ed

Hi there, He was just kidding re ‘he would have cleaned it out if he new I was coming’-quite the opposite-he’s incredibly fastidious about maintenance on the pond and filtration and it’s nice to have a client who is so interested in their pond and it’s ongoing maintenance, rather then just relying on me-and most def NOT lazy-one of the hardest working individuals I’ve met-he’s worked extremely hard to get where he is now.
