Lol you are probably right! I explain it better in part 2 but we were having tons of filter clogging problems this past year. It turns out that all the original solution lines in this sprayer were steel and 45 years of chemicals running through them caused some serious corrosion. So I should be at least 50% more efficient this year by not having to stop and un-clog filters. Also, these need to keep going for a few more years until it is in the books to maybe buy a Hagie.

Thanks for the support! Yeah he isn't the biggest fan of the 6000's but at the same time nobody wants to shell out the cash for a Hagie so everyone tends to let me do my crazy ideas!

I might have placed a strip or two of 060" EPDM between the steel bracket & tank, the structural members, not the side sheet metal cladding. Could the steel chaff a hole in the plastic❓ Just an additional ounce of precaution. Anticipate considerable vibration when sprayer operating under load❓🗽🇺🇸🤔. Might monitor the securement of those mounting bolts as a regularly scheduled maintenance check🙈🤔👌

after the first few full loads we are for sure going to check everything out and make sure everything is holding up. Something between those support members isn't a terrible idea!

That looks like a lot of work for such a meagre improvement but maybe I'm underrating the plus side. You have to wonder why the steel tank wasn't built to be drained empty. The new tank shows that they did become aware of the issue. Pretty in blue jeans. Good video. Pax.

A part that I didn’t mention in the video also is the stainless tank used steel lines and they were all corroded. While we changed the tank we also changed everything to rubber hoses so we should be much more efficient this year due to less plugged filters! Thanks for watching!

I bought a 6000 a out 4 years ago and really like it. Ours has 60' Hardy booms. I also made up a bar to hold my homemade y drops to put 28% nitrogen on the corn. I put nitrogen on 3 times. When planting, when the corn is just under 12" tall, and finally when the corn is starting to tassel out. Seems to give a good yield. This was the main reason I bought it was that it will go through very tall corn. I also filled the front tire with -50° rv antifreeze to stabilize the machine. With the Hardy booms it was hard to get up the ladder so I found a front retracting ladder and platform from a 6500 or 6700, I forget, and its a lot easier to climb on. Its almost a bolt on change. They are a great machine.

Yea! Love the changes! Timelapse music montages are fun. We can see how you're putting it all together.

The high boys work good enough for fungicide on flat ground no safety concerns. Other applications you might be able to justify using modern Hagie/Deere loaded, the chemical savings over 5-10 years might help justify it. Fun video

Doe the 6000 sprayer elevate HIGH Enough to clear tasseled corn without damage🚜🇺🇸❓
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
On really tall corn with weak stalks it can cause green snap. In this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ_Rn3iogq-BgcU we installed taller tires onto my brothers and that made a lot of difference. We might install larger tires on this sprayer as well later.

So why not just modify the SS tank with a sump? Hyd valve might have a broke or sticky spring, easy fix.
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
I stopped at hydraulic world and they told me it was made by an company that went out of business a long time ago and there are no parts to be found. I might take it apart to see what I can find but I am not too hopeful. Also its a very thin stainless steel. I would've had to hire a stainless steel welder to fabricate it and there was a chance the tank could 've been ruined. also it already had a couple small cracks up top so we decided to just change it. We are going to keep it in the back of a shed somewhere as an emergency spare! Great question and thanks for watching

Would spraying it with truck box liner. Prevent mold inside the tank?
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
We’ve never had an issue with mold in poly tanks. We always empty them out when sitting for any period of time

Hey I’m not sure if you know but can that John Deere monitor be connected to a raven 440 putting down anhydrous it has the raven 440 already In it could I put a John Deere monitor and what cables do I need to
@6thGenFarmer5 ай бұрын
Depends on if the raven 440 has a field doc connect plug on the back. Looks like a computer serial port. If so then you’ll need a field doc connect kit
@BRPFan3 жыл бұрын
You could of rebuilt the hyd valve spool with a seal kit and away you go, something to remember in the further.
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
Deere didn’t have a re-seal kit so I took it to hydraulic world and apparently the company that made the valves went out of business a long time ago and there are no seal kits to be found…. I could probably take it apart and find something that will work but this was faster and cheaper😂

May I ask why you don't upgrade from those things they have to be a giant bottle neck with such small tanks and absolutely everything else being old and slow you can get low hour mid to high 2000's high clearance sprayers for cheap
@6thGenFarmer3 жыл бұрын
great question! the reason we keep these going is because most of the true high clearance sprayers of the early 2000's had lots of issues. I know the hagies especially could be troublesome. When it comes down to it these old things are very bullet proof and easy to work on. John Deere didn't make a sprayer with high enough clearance between the 6700 and now, hagies could be troublesome, and I honestly don't really know of any other brands that made them. What makes and models were you thinking of?
