Google “ Adhesive cable tie mounts”. They work amazingly well for wiring jobs on a variety of surfaces. I love you have the ability to mesh the old with the new. To me that is what farming is all about. Anyone can buy something but it takes a real mind to design and fabricate something like you have done. Job well done!

Some things was basic you could add, attach some flat belting to the underside to protect the underside of frame where corn hits.

Neat seeing old equipment still being used. Considering you started from scratch with the technology on the highboy you should have went with a Ag Leader system you could have had steering, rate control, mapping, autoswath, and agfiniti in one display.
@6thGenFarmer2 жыл бұрын
I could’ve with Deere too, would’ve been pretty easy, but didn’t want to spend the extra money. We had an ag leader display in our cat tractor and nobody liked it
@scottmorrow54972 жыл бұрын
I'm slowly learning about Deere technology. How much would it have cost to use only one Deere monitor for rate control, mapping, autoswath, and sending the information to the cloud instead of the 2630, the raven 440, and the MTG. Sounds expensive when you are talking about thousands of dollars to add each subscription or whatever.
@6thGenFarmer2 жыл бұрын
@@scottmorrow5497 I think all I would've needed to bypass the raven is a old John Deere rate controller which can probably be found for around a grand... I do not believe I would've needed a subscription, steering would've required an ATU which run $1800 new. However I didn't want to use the deere monitor as a rate controller because I want to be able to spray without the monitor in case we need it in another piece of equipment at the same time. Also, I do not want swath control because unlike most sprayers you turn the 6000's around in the first few rows of the headlands, so about 25ft of your boom is hanging over crop that has not been sprayed yet. As far as sending data to the cloud that is what the MTG does. That was $600 new but I take it from machine to machine depending on the season. The also do super in depth machine analytics on anything 30 series (8030 or 9030) or newer. Which I have thoroughly enjoyed analyzing in the off season. I can see which hybrids consumed to most fuel, total throughput for each variety in the combine, I can see a machines total work time, idle time, and road time in any date range I select. For example our combine was 72% overall efficient this past harvest including road time. Deere truly has the easiest programs when it comes to viewing machine and crop analytics IMO.
@scottmorrow54972 жыл бұрын
@@6thGenFarmer you lost me on not wanting the autoswath because of the way the sprayer turns, the sprayer is easily 25 feet long from front wheel to spray tip so you are already in row ten of the headland before you start your turn otherwise when the boom swings rearward you will have unsprayed crop I’m assuming a row or 2 to complete the 90 into the headland now the center of the sprayer is sitting on row 12. 60 foot boom won’t make it out of the headland, unless I misunderstood you. 25 feet of boom hanging into unsprayed crop would require you to be turning into the second row of headland and your booms would still be 20 feet into the field.
@6thGenFarmer2 жыл бұрын
@@scottmorrow5497 yeah while spraying fungicide my outside wheel is either in row 1 or 2 while turning so we don’t run over any crops. I can spray at a max of 9 mph so it only take me a few feet to slow down to turning speeds. There is probably a couple of feet that do not get sprayed but it’s fungicide so we’re not super worried about it

Cover those loose wires with spiral-wrap to protect them from all sorts of trouble. - most important, abrasion and vibration. As for that bothersome big cable - there are self stick pads you can put up and then use tie wraps.

Great job just wondering how will the receiver know if you are going forward if it is backwards? Might be a silly question. We have a 6500 and I'm thinking of doing the same thing

I should be clear that not all raven monitors have the serial port so double check yours!
now lets see some rowtrac tracks to it. it can probably work well because the size difference between these stock wheels and a chain sprocket isnt too different it would also raise it way high

it doesn't always have to be the most expensive technology to do a job 😄👍 which distance do you have between the corn rows? here in germany the farmers mostly use 75cm.
@adamfpv82943 жыл бұрын
30” (76.2cm) is standard for corn

Yup, as @Adam FPV stated 30" is pretty standard for corn and that is what we run. Some run 22" or 20" corn as well. Our beans we run narrower at 15"
