Pimping the Greenhouse for Spring! Plus New Rhubarb and The Dahlia Bed. Ep210 || Plot 37

We get the greenhouse all ready for the new season this week. It gets a wash and polish and we have a new floor to put down! We also have a new Rhubarb to plant and make a start on the Dahlia Bed!

Have you tried the trick of pinning the outermost leaves of the cabbages together with a clip? Limits the growing space and closes it off so that all the new leaves are growing from the very crowded center. Et Voila! Cabbage with heads!

Jesse never worry about your videos being lengthy. They are always full of content and interesting and to be honest. I always think “God that went by quick”. Love The Greenhouse floor when I saw the clip I thought they were going to be those foam tiles and when they were hard ones I was very impressed with how you managed to get the floor as level as you did without all the measuring that JB does to get it precise.😂😂 You have a real eye. It always amazes me that Lil the cat is there waiting for you even though she is not your cat. Your Mums socks lol you are so lucky that you have your Mum with you to help, what a trooper she is. Though I do love the bit where you’re filling up The Greenhouse and she’s lay on the chair having a well earned rest , then she gets up and surveys your hard work then goes and sits in The Greenhouse. Love to see the chickens as well it’s amazing how Flo really doesn’t get it bless her. I would love to have chickens but unfortunately our allotment does not allow any livestock. Yet another great video and you should be happy and proud of yourself, you both worked hard. LittleHallie is coming on and becoming quite the explorer isn’t she?

Hi Jessie and mum A long programme is good the longer the better. I love Tuesday nights when I can enjoy all your news. I have given up on those disgusting composts and finally bought Clover Irish Peat Compost. I know I can hear all the boo's but at least my seeds are growing now and with a vengeance. You should see the climbing garden peas. My hubby has built a long arch so that they can grow over 7ft. We are going to be overwhelmed with peas this Summer. I bought the porcelain clip together tiles from ikea 3 years ago and they are still as beautiful as when they were first laid, and the price was fabulous too

Joyous greenhouse flooring, you should be rightly proud of it, it is marvellous. The foot stamping of the floor clip had the Benny Hill chase music going on in my head so funny 🤣🤣 I did manage to get hold of some Minestra seeds from an etsy shop in the Netherlands (or Belgium? 🤔 - can't remember now) luckily they didn't have the exorbitant postage price that the Italian site wanted. So I shall sow and see what happens. You should leave one of your plants to flower and save the seed. I have some Sprigatella (?) Broccoli seeds from Franchi already, It does look similar on the packet but not quite the beautiful curly leaves. I am sowing some of that as well to see. Perhaps we can all campaign to Franchi Seeds to start selling Minestra here. You are doing a great job of selling it. It makes my mouth water when I see you picking it and telling us how you will cook it next. Yum!

Been watching your videos since COVID, they have been inspirational. Thank you. Those legs on the bench will break the plastic tiles, there will be too much weight on a small point. I suggest putting some long wood slats, say a piece of palletwood, between the legs and plastic, like feet, to spread the weight around. Best would be if the legs were a U with one full length slat. I know you don't put much weight on that normally if you prop one bag of silva grow on a corner for a second, you could hear a very annoying sound.

Suggest to buy a sheeting agent to spray on the greenhouse glass that will repel water. Like the kind that you can put on a windshield. The water beads and falls right off which might reduce the algae. It would solve the problem of hard water stains as well. You just won’t get that buildup. Love the kitten!

Greenhouse clean and makeover looks great Jessie, I like the floor, I've got nothing planted as the plot its still drying out I've got big panes of glass (old window frames) covering an area to dry out, covered seedlings in greenhouses today as we have have frost forecast in NE UK 😳, my garden was ready and sorted in February last year, this year April still not ready still wet, goes to show how far some of us gardeners are behind but everything catches up 😀. after 4 years I still look forward to the wine chat, take care Jessie and mum...cheers Steve

I had the same horrible mess of algae and moss built up over many years on my greenhouse too - but being in the temperate rain forest of west Wales, the moss was becoming structural! This winter I finally got serious and took out every pane of glass in the roof, cleaned & bleached them to a sparkle, and scraped out all the alloy sections... barrows of moss! A hideous job in the cold dark days - but Jessie, doesn't it feel great when you look out at a sparkling clean world?! 😎
