Hi there I’m new to sewing and the Mimi dress is my second ever dress. It is very easy to sew but I realise on seeing this video the mistakes I’ve made. I didn’t know the lining was attached to the outer fabric when hemming. I wondered why we had to leave a gap in the lining. Now it makes sense. Also I tried top stitching but had to rip it out as the seams did not match under the arms and because the straps are so small it’s difficult to top stitch. Thank you.

It does take time to realize while you are doing it, when you make a mistake. Its just practise. :)

I already have, but not in digital form. I am always two steps behind where I need to be. I definitely want to do my favorite hipster trousers next year.

Hello Marina I am making a two piece wedding dress. I was wondering if you could help me out with one thing. the bottom of my dress is a trumpet skirt which I want to ruffle out on the floor, how do I accomplish that rather than having it straight all the way around. I know how to add ruffles to a pencil skirt but I just want my dress to flare out from my knees into a big trumpet style ruffling as it gets to the floor. I have learned a lot from your videos and I'm even learning to make things for my kids. thank you.

Hi DJ, just not sure what exactly you mean. Do you have a picture or something?
@DjDiamstatOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Marina Brumpton yes I have pictures where could I post them, ok maybe this is a better explanation basically how can I make a dress have a lettuce leaf hem look at the very bottom but on satin.

It's a tough life having a boutique but can also be fun. Are you thinking online or a physical shop? I know a few on Etsy.com which are super. www.etsy.com/shop/BowspokeAngels? Check her out, she sews with a few of my patterns too.

hi.... thanx I wish to work online also physical too.... it's tough bt want to do vd it help... I tried to find out ur patterns bt was nt successful how it can be drawn....

I think the main thing is to know what you want to do, draw patterns which takes training and experience and tons of time or make stuff and sell it. Doing both is virtually impossible on your own.

Shazia Muneer how long have you been sewing? Personally I learnt pattern cutting through sewing for 25 years much of that in a professional setting. It's only recently I started making patterns myself. I use a chart to guide me but just draw them. I just know what it need a to look like lol. Then it's doing each size until I am happy. That is why my patterns are so different and fit so well. I couldn't teach that experience and my method is just my own. Of course I do know the theory but it's just a back up.
