On a side note….Vireos are my arch nemesis. So many misidentification between the two.

This just feels like you’re rubbing it in Bobby. Thanks though for the analysis. It’s the one Warbler (as you know) I’ve been chasing for years….at Least with photographic evidence. Hope you’re well.

The next 2 to 3 weeks should be the best time of the year to track one down!

What are the differences between Pine Warblers and Bay-breasted/Blackburnian Warblers?
@LycoBirds2 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean for female-type Blackburnian, since the male plumage is so distinctive. Primarily, Blackburnians have a "stronger" facial pattern (angular cheek patch, and bright eyebrow), they also have pale bracing on the back that Pine lack as well as having the yellow/orange more restricted in the throat and upper chest primarily. For Bay-breasted (and don't forget Blackpoll needs to be considered), that would be more of a fall challenge than a spring one (so I didn't cover it here in the spring series), but "Baypolls" have streaking on the back that Pine lack and there's structural differences especially in the bill and tail, along with other subtle plumage traits. Perhaps a video idea for later in the year.

@@LycoBirds Thank you! You should definitely have a Fall Warbler series.

@@bearybirding I did do a partial fall series last fall: kzbin.info/aero/PLB8baxseGlb7p_ptttwAaqlR7qRMJpsEy Pretty sure I didn't have enough photos/angles of fall Pine and Bay-breasted to do a good job with that confusion trio, but I'll have to check again to see if I have enough to do a decent attempt at it this year.
