Pineapple farming in Kericho county

Kericho is famously known for growing tea, but did you know that at least 10,000 farmers in the County have over the decades been relying on pineapple farming to make ends meet? In Bureti Constituency, this has proved a profitable business for many farmers who have now diverted their efforts to commercial growing of pineapple, notwithstanding the region's poor market. The farmers now want the government to revive a fruit-processing factory with machines valued at 60 million Shillings which has been lying idle for years.
