Moved to Pinehurst 2 1/2 years ago and belong to the PCC. Never imagined, but "Living the Dream"

I'm retired and living in the Philippines now, but I was born in Pinehurst. When I was a toddler, my dad was a security guard at the old Hall of Fame, which sat behind the 4th green and 5th tee of No. 2 course. At age 4, the 4th green was the first piece of ground upon which I ever putted a golf ball into a hole. No matter where I travel in this world, the smell of freshly-cut Burmuda grass mixed with long-leaf pine needles is always in my nostrils. See you soon, Pinehurst. Thank you, Samuel L. Jackson.

There is no place like Pinehurst. It truly is Heaven On Earth. The golf is absolutely incredible and the greens are treacherous (why we all love Donald Ross). But the resort is MUCH MORE than the outstanding golf. The hotels, food, Lake Pinehurst, Spa, and especially the people. You are always treated like family. I go every year and this year 3 times (started this year already from 1-3 January). If you're playing No.2 for the first time, don't play without a caddie. Not only will the greens age you by 5 years, you'll miss so much of the experience.

I just KNEW with Samuel L. Jackson narrating there would be details of racism, segregation, and racial injustice. I find it so fascinating how no one wants to talk about or touch the subject. IT'S THE SOUTH!!! There is no way around the fact that once upon a time this golf course DID NOT allow black folks in the door unless they worked there serving white folks.

Played Pinehurst #2 & #8 & stayed at the resort approx. 4 years ago. I found it to be good, not great. The golf was challenging (esp. number 2), the overall service was very average in my opinion. I have played numerous other top tier golf destinations (i.e., Pebble Beach Resort, Chambers Bay, TPC Sawgrass, PGA West Stadium Course, Shadow Creek, etc.). I found all of them to be far superior than Pinehurst.

Pinehurst stands for great golf and a relaxing experience , to enjoy, not so much as being catered to but to enjoy a relaxed carefree place to just be yourself.

@@terryconder3917That's what I love about it. You don't have people in your face all the time. If you need help, you can get it, but you can relax at Pinehurst and be yourself.
