Us two knuckle heads put together we managed to dial that stove just how we needed it 😆 Also let's not forget you adding a grill plate inside improved tremendously the air flow and proper burn! Great video Doug! Thanks again buddy🍻

Hello Marc, I'm Doug's Ossie friend, you did a great job mate, I've built something similar with a keg..if you don't know what a keg is it's a stainless steel barrel that contains beer from the brewery Welding stainless steel was a challenge but it turned out awesome, in saying that its not a stove to be taken indoors, but it works great for what I use it for, I'm subbed to your channel now so I'm looking forward to checking out your videos, take care buddy and you too Doug 👍🍻🍺🍺

😂 we did come up with some good ideas Marc and you took to the next level once you had the stove in your hands. I forgot to mention the grill plate inside which is just a $5 bbq grill from Canadian Tire just shoved in the stove. Thanks again Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻

@Pinetree Line LOL Doug, I've had to edit some spelling Ceg is spelled keg and afcorse Marc, I'm in my man cave riddled with covid and in so much body aches and pain's, It's my second day in isolation from the rest of the family, I'm sleeping on a blow up metress, and basically living of supplies that are in the fridge, it's mostly beer 🍺 but luckily I had some snacks and fingers crossed I'll get some food delivered today, I have 5 more days of camping in the mancave, I'm starting to look like Tom hank's in castaway 😁🤣👍🍻🍺🍺

My tent stove from the factory has 6 inch legs . The flat plate sure made a difference for cooking . Nice mods forsure. 👍
@PinetreeLine
@PinetreeLine 2 жыл бұрын
Steve six inch legs are great although for hot tent camping you would want to put the stove on a tray type deal so it doesn’t sink as it melts the snow, but it will heat the lower part of the tent very well. The flat plate was an absolute game changer for cooking and that was all Marc. Thanks Buddy! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻

I like that little stove and Marc's improvements make it even better! I have had my eye out for one of these but so far, they are out of stock. I remember a folding-style wood burning stove for camping tents but haven't seen one for a while. The cylindrical shape of this stove reminds me of one I made about 35 years ago. At the time, I was working on a ship restoration in Halifax, NS, the WW2 Corvette HMCS Sackville. This was the major conversion that was done to take it back to its wartime look after years of being used as an auxillary vessel by national defence. One of the features the contracors were trying to replicate were the Cowl Vents, which are the air scoops that took air down into the boiler and engine rooms. The open mouth of the vents attached to cylindrical steel bodies 30 inches in diameter. I was a partner in a wilderness cabin at the time and thought that the diameter of the 3/8" thick, cold-rolled steel would make a great wood stove. I got permission to work in the contractor's shop in the evenings one week where I welded a stove from one of the new sections of steel. I cut a 30" length and closed the back wall, made a crude door and used angle steel to fashion a frame on the top so I could insert a section from an old wood burning stove (two round burners with a lift-out centre section, known as a short centre). This way, I had a flat surface on which to cook, and could lift out either round burner or both and the short center to feed wood from the top. That stove was heavy !! But once in place at the camp it provided heat and a cook surface for years. Good tip on placing stove pipe inside the one below so that sap doesn't drip outside. Many novice stove pipe installers do the opposite and have sap burning on the outside and running down their new pipe. Nice to see you out enjoying nature, Doug and Marc!!

I finally got one of these stoves this week (August 2022). Right away I saw the piping error where the creosote will run down the outside, so I'm going to modify that soon. The door on this one is very flimsy and the hinge is pathetic so it will need some work too. I like the flat plate top Marc added and I'll look into that too. My wife likes the racks so I may have to remove them on the sly and then say something like, "I wonder where those went...I couldn't find them in the shed...Now where are those...?" or something like that. These were on sale for $85 Canadian this week and I was able to secure one before they sold out. I see it as another motivator to get outside and do something on cold or wet weekends where I may otherwise stay indoors. We have been watching the "ALONE" series on Amazon this week and it also motivates us to get out and try some of the bushcraft ideas we see on there, but rest assured, we won't be trying to stay out for weeks at a time...just one night here and there that's all. Great channel, Doug. Keep up the good work! Craig
