Our Story:
We are five years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden organically, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Wow, that stuff is pretty expensive. 9' x 17' for $125? Unless I am reading it wrong on the website, the thicker grids are less than the smaller ones so something doesnt seem right. I would love to use this on my driveway but its over a half mile long. Maybe just on the couple steep hill parts?

Not a rhetorical question: why did you choose the geocell grid over, say, just putting some landscaping fabric in between the road base and gravel? The fabric is certainly a lot cheaper and reportedly does a good job of keeping the larger rocks from getting pushed deeper into the sand over time, but maybe it's not so good at holding the gravel in place on a slope as compared to the geo cell?

Our concern was losing rock to running water....we get pretty severe rainstorms here in Florida. We weren't concerned as much with rock pushing down from driving pressure. In a perfect world where everything is free and easy and we have lots of time, we would do both!! Thanks for watching.

Seems like it would have been a lot easier to just start at the bottom and sprinkle your way up allowing to drive up it as you go. It will be interesting to see how it holds up.

@@PineyGroveHomestead Ive done a few of these and this suggestions of working your way up is spot on. I do very little hand work. You have to be a little careful back blading but I front blade it with a skidsteer as well. Keep and eye on it and adjust bucket height as needed for being 1" above grid

Where is the fabric ( very important) that goes over the dirt, then you grid and gravel.

You only need that if you have soil that will absorb the gravel over time. We have a layer of road base then the limestone gravel.
