Another option is a virtual reality headset, like the Meta Quest 3. Eleven Table Tennis is quite realistic, lots of players use it. I'm in the UK, but play people in Australia.

That’s a fantastic suggestion! Virtual reality can be a great way to sharpen your skills and play against people from all over the world. Amazing that you can train with players in Australia from the UK! 🌍🏓

I put my whole table a bit away from the wall, that way i can hit it very hard, and it still bounce back

That’s a great idea! It’s a fantastic way to work on your power and reaction time. Keep those strong shots coming! 💥🏓

HItting against a wall is really only appropriate for beginners, who aren't applying any spin to the ball. The way the ball returns from a wall when you put spin on it is the opposite of how you'd expect it to return if you were hitting with a partner.
@pingskills
@pingskills Ай бұрын
You make a good point! Hitting against a wall does have its limitations, especially when it comes to spin. It’s a useful tool for beginners or for working on basic rhythm and reaction time, but you’re right-it doesn’t replicate spin like a real partner does. Thanks for sharing your insight! 🏓👍

Hate to say it but shadow play doesn't really work. You're bat angle could be completely wrong and you wouldn't know. Basically you'd build bad habits without knowing. It's like trying to practice swimming strokes out the water. Practice all you want but you'll never develop a catch because there's nothing to catch.
@pingskills
@pingskills Ай бұрын
You raise a valid concern! Shadow play does have its limitations, especially for bat angle and feedback. It’s best used for focusing on movement, rhythm, and stroke mechanics. To avoid bad habits, combining shadow play with video feedback and ball practice can really help. Remember that these are tips for when you don't hyave a partner. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🏓👍
