I worked there a short time and I couldn’t wait until I found another job! The owner and his sister talked to the employees like crap. It was so stressful. I feel bad for the employees who stayed and lost their jobs with no backup plan. This company was horrible.

@@napalmstickylikeglue I would also add that while it's not a bad idea to scout out various attorneys that deal with these kinda cases, the probability of a regular employee being named in a lawsuit is fairly low so they shouldn't give any money (retainer) to a lawyer unless you find out you've been named. it's not necessary to hand over cash to someone you most likely won't need because I've had the bullshit runaround trying to get back a retainer before and it sucks. my advice is just to not pay anyone until absolutely necessary and then also not all up front so they can't take your money and run

I ran the crew that installed the solar panels on the so called "Ford field" in actuality it was on one of the parking structures and it really offsetting nothing to mention publicly. It was all a publicity stunt, I was told not to disclose the KW or size of the solar system. But in reality, the Ford field would be an engineering nightmare to have it run on all solar. So we did the next best thing claimed that Ford field has gone solar!!!in little print but it will not be offsetting anything energywise that would be worth mentioning. I knew this was coming down the line the sales people are sleaz bags. Promise the world to sign on dotted line. I'll get off my soap box now...

I live in St Louis and you can expect 2-3 days a week here on average with minimal sun. I can only imagine it's much less up north. people here don't have solar because most everyone knows if the sun ain't shinin or there's a storm or snow the damn things wouldn't work. if your wanting to pay a small fortune for renewable energy people should use some goddamn common sense no matter what some sales people say.

As a person who has worked at multiple solar companies: 1: It makes me mad that companies like this ruin the reputation solar has, which already isn't great. 2: There are definitely other companies out there like PinkEnergy that screw over customers daily and for extreme amounts of money 3. There is also a lag when it comes to the solar technology. A good system that works properly is great, however there are a lot of systems, brands, and parts (such as the snap RS) which can be prone to failure, just another reason why solar has a bad name

Hahahaha nah fuck Powerhome/Pink Energy. I've been calling them out on their systems for YEARS now. I'm a solar installer full time and some of the shit I've seen them do is embarrassing for the industry. Even their damn KZbin ads would show panels on the north sides of roofs, clamped wrong on the rails, don't work, and charged the customer 85k for a 25k system. I also install plenty of Generac and Solaredge systems and it's usually never the inverters that are bad, but the electricians. Granted, I know that rapid shutdown shit and arc fault detection is finicky, but any installer know that's the equivalent of a compactor going out on an AC unit, or a solenoid on a starter. It's not hard at all to fix. So upper management just sold a bunch of high priced systems, contracted the cheapest residential sparkies to do it ( which my previous work experience was an industrial service electrician, so I know my shit and let me tell you anyone can learn to do residential electrical work. Shits easy) who don't even know what hemisphere they're in, and made a lot of money. Now, they are shifting the blame and trying to duck out scot free. Sucks to be one of the homeowners that fell for their bullshit. Anyone reading this, if you are interested in basically any home improvements, call your county inspector for suggestions and references. They see everyone's work.

I'm in northern NH and have a 9k watt solar system. Very happy with the system. No electric bills since the installing in spring '24. The tax credit is from the federal government, which has lowered the payback period to between 7 and 9 years. It's cost effective but the other motivation is environmental. I think we all need to adopt conservation methods to lessen the effects of climate change.

As someone who worked for that company at one point - even if they werent doing the lie, cheat, and steal scheme, its still gross negligence. As an installer id call multiple people from management on days in the middle of summer with no clouds in the sky to let them know the system was producing a third of what it should be. The response was always to "shut up and finish my job. " that's completely ignoring the predatory sales tactics they used. My guess is that the main reason this is coming crashing down is interest rates rising. They cant find as many suckers anymore to sell on the cheap monthly payment the way car dealers do. If anyone ever talks to people who wprked there, this dipshit ceo would probably have a hard time lying his way out and pretending this was anyone else's fault. And now that ive finished watching this video - the generac system would tell you if any of those parts had failed. Which was why i was calling and asking in the first place. How is everything fine but production numbers are so far off the mark? Managements response waa stop asking about it, if its all fine then wrap it up and get out of there.

Don’t lease at exorbitant prices. If you can’t afford a 70K pickup why would you get a 6 year loan. If you can’t afford a modest solar array for 20 to 30 K cash then don’t lease it. Michigan isn’t the best place in the world for solar, it will take at least ten years to pay for itself. So if you are pre paying for electricity thru solar then you are not saving much, just paying for your juice up front. Do the math, the thing in school you always asked why you had to learn.

You will rent your power from the utility company for the rest of your life. Not to mention, the average utility rates increase at 7-9% every year. Some areas of the country, especially the north, are much higher. With Solar, you own your power and there is an end date on the payment. It's fixed and never increases as the utility does. So many other benefits to Solar (clean energy, good for the environment, renewable, minimizes stress on the power grid).

This is really sad. This guy gave a really good industry a black eye. As someone in the solar industry I'm glad to see Pink Energy and Power Home Solar gone. I do wish the news outlet would have aired some evidence. "My power bill is the same as before they turned the system on" would have made more of an impact if they said "Here, look at these bills." I'm left wondering. Did they fail to install something? Did they never get Permission to Operate from the power company? Did they just exaggerate how much power would be produced? I feel like there's a lot of questions left unanswered. I hope consumers learn to ask lots of questions but don't completely write off solar.

The Generac product works like it should.... Not very efficient... I had a friend with a medium size solar system and wind generator that charged 12 large batteries in his basement... He said yeah I can offset a little bit of grid energy... But I know if there is ever long power outages because of bad storms I'll be fine... I'll be able to run some heat, cook, watch tV etc... I'll just have to be resourceful at night

Jayson Waller knowingly installed faulty equipment for over a year. He knew the snaps were bad, he used them anyway with the thought to install, get the money and fix the snaps later under manufacture warranty. Homes burned downed. People lost everything.

Half of mine were installed with the good ones and the others were installed with the bad ones. That way I got SOME use and SOME solar relief, but he absolutely knew. He kept installing with them well after he found out. Also, he thought the new snaps would be out quicker, so his plan was to install then go back and fix under manufacturers warranty. He was signing contracts the DAY he shut down the business. As long as they put the panels on, they got paid by the lenders. And you better believe the lenders are also responsible for this. Trust me. I'm going to have to sue generac too. But I managed to make Jayson Waller pay off my 90k solar loan because HE was so fraudulent.

Can people just do the math? $60k system with $2400/yr electric bill is 25yrs. Theres no way electric panels would last in those conditions for 25yrs. The snaprs device is a fuse that is connected to each solar panel. If a solar panel goes bad it immediately sends a surge of electricity through the line. If there is no fuse it can start a fire or destroy the solar system with the surge. Its why thermal cameras are used in solar panel inspections. A panel that is about to go bad will get hotter than the rest. To prevent this failure cascade a fuse like the snaprs is installed to prevent a complete failure/destruction of all of the equipment. If a fuse blows its actually a success of the device because it protected everythibg else. Its why we have circuit breakers in our home. Yes, if a fuse blows it takes out that group of panels. Its supposed to do that.

Its an overly fancy disconnect that nevertheless he should have been replacing and fixing and suck it up because he choose to use generac equipment and continued to use them. Oh wait, people complained about him before he had generac equipment.

I do taxes for a friend who went solar in the PNW. He couldn't take the whole 26% in the year of purchase so we are carrying the credit forward. He took another bite last year. I think it carries for 5 years. He MIGHT be able to take it all by then. He paid out of pocket around 50k, so no carrying costs (loan interest) and his power bill is much lower. Our local utility allows him to 'bank' his generation for power in the winter, resets once a year. It worked for him but may not for many more.

Because of snake oil salesmen like this is the reason I studied, and asked questions of people who had solar. I went with Tesla, and paid cash. The 26% is correct, but only if your tax bill is greater than the credit. No commissioned sales person came to my door. I purchased online. Tesla helped with HOA approval and with utility approval and scheduling. It’s a long process, but worth it. My electric bill has been no more than $25 a month since install, as that is the minimum service charge Florida Power and light charges.

I never lost power, when my neighborhood was without from Wednesday until Sunday afternoon. In turned off and unplugged anything that wasn’t necessary. I left the refrigerator, microwave and AC on at 76.

@Jason Fitch let’s debunk a few things. I am retired, (at 55). I didn’t pay $60k, it paid $26k. In order to have 8 times the money in 20 years, you would need to average 14.4% growth. Uncle Joe is making that pretty hard. Currently I am generating about $1800 year in energy, but using under $1000. That $800 comes back to me to invest every year. That gives me an ROI of less than 14 years. Since I plan on living in this house that long, and I am young and healthy, I think that is a good long term buy. The availability of havIng AC, refrigeration, and cell phone chargers available for all my neighbors during one of the worst hurricanes to hit the US was all bonus. Since I don’t borrow money, I have no payments either. Maybe us “boomers” aren’t so dumb after all.

@Jason Fitch continuing to debunk everything you said, with the exception of yankee. Yes, I am from the north, specifically the Midwest. Spend was $37k. 30% tax credit when I file in February will be make it approx $26k net cost. Not saving $800 a year. Net savings is $1800 year, but power company will refund the over 6,000 kwh i overproduced. (6100x.13 per kwh=$793). $26,000/$1800=14.4 years. Roof seems be just fine. Many of my neighbors sustained roof damage, mine had zero. While Katrina cause the most damage, according to the National Hurricane center, it was only a category 3 when it hit landfall. Ian so far has been categorized as a cat 4 with 150 mph winds at landfall, tied for 5th place among storms. I am sorry you are having an angry day, and don’t like it when people challenge you. Or maybe you just like to argue when you have no facts. Either way, have a great day. I will continue to enjoy the sunshine, not only for great days at the beach, but for the energy it provides for my home.

the panels still produce juice, you just need something that can actually pump that into your system. if what the pinkpower guy said is true about generac that would make sense. The panels and installation are overpriced unless you DIY, but if they actually produce power then you should actually get a much lower bill (during summer at least). Once again, those panels are making power so it sounds like you aren't getting that power sent to your house.

I think the consumer is at fault as well... I mean if you really think about it, a few panel arrays in some rooftop is nowhere enough to actually do much in terms of leveraging the electrical output to really make a difference anywhere. I think people where too entertained with the idea that if some light could had powered little desk calculators (Ya know, those things during the glory days when those things where around), then some arrays could potentially do the same for a home... And at the end of the day, solar was a trend, not some necessity that gradually took over decades, like say Wi-FI or GSM. Solar energy has been an enterprise-large scale thing since it sort of begin decades back and kept being that.. some dude thought it was cute to put it in houses and then it sparked into a trend... I mean if people can't see that then idk. Realize that solar energy is managed by many Engineers in the actual fields and is a high-maintenance system that is super duper expensive and only scales wells in enterprise environments. It even doesn't sound right to put little Mainland-Chinese made panels in roofs in the hopes that it will solve problems. And if you notice, these things happen in 1st world countries where people don't know better, no other poor countries where actual flow of energy is very needed have fallen for these scams. The US being the US as always. I have barely any pity.

There are so many other great Solar panel installation companies in Michigan that do not deceive their customers. Honestly, consumers should always get multiple quotes and do their homework by looking up reviews, BBB, etc. prior to purchasing anything.

I think the key is 1. Don’t buy it if you can’t pay cash. 2. Research the company and reviews. 3. Be informed on tax laws. The 26% was correct, but it is not a check, it is a tax credit on your annual 1040. The problem is, if your tax bill is smaller than your rebate, you are out of luck.

Best to run it yourself. Solar is not complicated. But getting your entire house to run off it is. Switch to power saving devices and turn off electronic devices you aren't using. Turn off your wifi your at work and turn it back on when you come back.

I just rode out Ian about 4 miles from the eye wall. Sustained winds of 120 mph. My solar never failed. The only way I knew that power was out was because my Tesla app told me. I unplugged non essential items. Left fridge, ac (turned up a couple degrees), microwave and coffee maker when needed on. Everyone in the neighborhood that had generators were scrambling for gas, because there was none. Plus they would run it for a couple house, and turn it off for a couple house. My house was cell phone charging central, there was a portable ice maker set up for people to get ice, and i was able to have people in my house for meals. The Tesla app let me know what battery status was, even though my wifi was down. I have no idea how.

I like sunrun tbh. They have some annoying sales tactics also though that you have to be ready for. Even if you say you want to buy the system, they pretend youre getting a lease and mention how the system is free(like theyve been pre programmed.) Also we wantes to include a main panel upgrade for our home to 200 amps service since it gets included. The reason was mainly to get a panel with 40 breakers of capacity to electrify the appliances in the house - they knew this and we went over it multiple times. The day of the install they put in a panel with 20 breaker slots. So we had to complain and have them change it. Sadly most companies will need to be baby sat at least a little if you have specific wants, but i felt like at leaat sunrun had a good install team on the roof and you dont want to have a waterfall in your living room the forst time it rains. Powerhome was notorious for shit like that. I remember people there blaming *the roof*
