Amazing that an ambitious, 25 year old, gay, young man was able to capture such a script on 16mm news film in the early 1970's and gain the career that he eventually earned. John Waters is simply an American treasure.

My dad rented this movie when I was ten or eleven years old. I tried to tell my peers at school about it, and they thought I was full of shit. "A movie like that just couldn't exist! Nobody would be allowed to make it!!".This movie and "Bloodbath at the House of Death". Everybody was convinced I was lying about them.

I remember that during the late 70s "Midnight Movie" craze, this John Waters film and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" were the two most popular flicks shown during that fad !
