Pink Floyd - Apples and Oranges

"Apples and Oranges" is the third United Kingdom single by Pink Floyd, released in 1967. It was the final song written by Syd Barrett with the group. After David Gilmour replaced Syd Barrett, the band recorded a promotional video in Belgium in a fruit market with Roger Waters lip-synching to the song.

Everybody can stop saying 'Syd going mad was the best thing that happened to them,' because no it wasn't, they could have continued as a five-piece and created the best music man would ever hear. Also, Syd didn't exactly 'go mad' listen to interviews from his sister, or read the book about him. You have to keep in mind that he produced two bloody incredible solo albums after leaving PF, though with help from Gilmour.

Yeah, Syd had been pushed out, but they were told to do music videos, so they had no other choice than to set Roger and David to mime to Syd's vocals. It's weird as hell to watch for anyone with even a basic knowledge about the history of Pink Floyd, but I guess most of the Belgian TV audience who saw this probably didn't have enough knowledge about the band to notice that the men miming to the songs were not the same as the one who sang them on the record.

Nope, Jugband blues was written in the summer of 1967. About 6 months before he was kicked out. Infact ALL of these 'last' Barrett songs were written by September 25th 1967. You can hear their Sep. 25 BBC sessions where they play most of all their obscure (Vegetable man, etc.) and Piper era songs. In fact he is playing slide on many of the songs on Saucer, but by February 1968. He was completely out of the band.
