The same happened to me when I was a child. It's a family thing. My dad was a Floyd fan. He played the cassettes and tapes (google that if you need to) later on the cds. It is one of the things I'll always be grateful for all my life. Listen to the Piper mate!

God, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have this on vinyl. I bought it when I was 11 years old, 1973. The album middle label area, is white with only "side 1" and otherside "side 2" on it. The album sleeve is all white, nothing written on it. It has a green yellow poster taped to it, which has two Indian deities with coiled snakes. The two have if I recall correctly, at least six arms a piece. At the bottom in rather small print, has the name of the songs. The Top has "Ohm Suite Ohm" ( ahaaa We've Blown The Clone). 11 years old was quite a year for me. I went from listening to the Beatles, The Monkees, to Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, then Pink Floyd. I remember exactly what I was doing that night. Came home from town with my folks. Put the album on my rows of albums I had and finished the formalities of the night. It was 10:30pm when I went to my room. I put the album on. The first song first side is "Cymbaline". I wasn't expecting that lol. I just sat on the edge of my bed and listened. Doors, chambers, vast landscapes opened up inside my head. I did purchase a copy of this online, but, the sound is abit faint compared to the original. I'm 58 now, and I still love this album as much if not more. 1)Cymbaline. 2) Grantchester Meadows. 3) "Green is The Colour" with, "Careful With That Axe Eugene" attached without interruption. Second side. 4) "Atom Heart Mother". 5) "Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun".

@ThinWhiteAxe5 жыл бұрын
@Chris 1990 A lot of their songs changed quite a lot live, check out live versions of 'Fat Old Sun' in 1970 vs 1971. But yeah, this one was transformed perhaps the most, due to its being a rather loosely-structured jam. I prefer the latter-day live versions over the record, actually.

The best part about this song, every version is always different! I just love it! From the short original BBC version that doesn't even have the scream, then the studio version, the Zabriskie Point versions, and then the live versions, holy shit the live versions! 1969-1973 just had so many brilliant live versions, and then there's Oakland 1977! Phew! What a song!

@@julesrose3337 growing up, I had a secret list of songs in a notebook that I heard from the outside world, and liked. Sometimes I didn't have a name, so I just wrote down parts of the verse and/or chorus that I heard. When I was 17, I left. And I hunted down the song lyrics from my notebook. 'Brick in the Wall' was one of them. After hearing some more of Pink Floyd's music, I went to see Rodger Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon. And I heard 'The Great Gig in the Sky' for the first time Live. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
