Listening with only one ear will never give you the Pink Floyd experience. It takes ALL of your senses.
@Justin-td4bb

I was thinking the same. I mean the same goes for any music. You are literally missing some of the mix. All music is mixed in stereo with instruments off center to broaden the sound stage.

Just adding to the other comments about listening with both ears..... Pink Floyd do record in full studio. Not only does the music move through the sound scape from left to right, or vice versa, and sometimes around in a circle..... They often have different instruments playing different music on both sides.....sometimes this music is stand alone, and sometimes it mixes into the intended melody. You are not only listening to half the arrangement, you are also only hearing a bit more than half of the written music, and sometimes not all the vocals.

@@puarterquonder yeah same. I would even say that listening with one ear or through a single speaker is okay, if you have your output set to mono. Which he almost certainly hasn't

100 agree. It's big right? (it's funny with reactions. there's something about this song that begs to be listened to in a room by yourself) I always ask reactors if they're different now that they've experienced it, but you can tell by their faces.

It never ceases to amaze me that people are shocked to see that bands can actually play their instruments and sing without the aid of computers and autotune. This is how artists became great years ago. I've been a rock drummer for over 50 years and the only way you got a following is by mastering your instrument and constantly rehearsing until it was second nature. unfortunately we're now subjected to the tedious repetition of meaningless artificial dross that's being pumped out which will never stand the test of time. You guys should react to "The great gig in the sky" from the same concert. see what the backing vocalists can do.

So glad you're listening to Floyd - They are an experience - an amazing band. You have to listen to more from this concert - "Sorrow" is just one on many greats, but what a performance! - you mentioned watching all these players so in sync with each other - in "Sorrow", it almost brings you to tears, how these members (and the backup singers) are firing on all cylinders - don't miss it! There are many others, not to mention experiencing their studio albums - masterpieces! Also remember, this concert was in '94 - almost thirty years after Floyd originally formed, and they're still playing with so much energy, focus and talent! You will not regret discovering this band!

Great reaction, and to blow your mind even more, if you look close - almost no ear pieces (other than Nick, the drummer). They used just straight up stage monitors there to hear themselves, and they had to keep time to each other, individually. No click track stuff back then. Just all those guys, top musicians in their day, playing together, and even more, off each other - Dave holding those notes to *just* before Nick would bring down the crash, and letting it meld together seamlessly. Just amazing.

This concert (Pulse) demonstrates their skils at the top of their game. The staging and lighting ALONE cost 25 million--in 1994. The band from the start was equally focused on what they composed and how their music was performed. It was designed to be an immersive experience. You could do an entire series on the different tunes from the Pulse concert--and you would be confounded at each individual performance. Enjoy the ride.

The crazy thing is there is over a minute or so cut out of the second guitar solo 'for tv' due to how long it was. There is a video kicking around on YT where you get to hear the full solo. I must admit though, they did a good job of 'cutting and shutting'. The cut is somewhere around 8:20 in this video.

For me it doesn't get better than Pink Floyd, except for maybe Pink Floyd live. This whole concert is amazing and you can't go wrong no matter what you choose. A few of my favorites are Sorrow, One of These Days, and Great Gig in the Sky. You'll probably get suggestions for Echoes, and even though all the versions out there are great, the studio version is the best of them. It's a masterpiece. Truthfully, anything from Wish You Were Here through The Division Bell is going to hit you in that special Pink Floyd place.🖖🏽💗🤘🏽

If you appreciate the Technical aspect of their music, you have to listen to Dark Side of the Moon. They made this album in 1972 . The sounds had to be created, taped, spliced & looped. The album was way before it’s time. It was on the top 100 albums of all time for over 19 years!! It’s a must to listen to in its entirety as all the songs lead into the next. It’s very chill. Great reaction!!

Creativity off the charts, musical ability off the charts, always at the forefront of technical innovation, Pink Floyd are one of the '1970's bands from England that are totally original and unique with their sound. "Keep Talking" from this concert is a personal favourite. If you want to expand on this type of experience try "Yours is no Disgrace" by the band "YES" (studio version) or "In the Cave/Afterglow" LIVE by the group "Genesis". The genre is called "Progressive Rock" because we had never heard anything like it before, ever. Happy Trails...
