Roger is one of my favorite bass players along with Sting and McCartney. I love his bass on the version of Echoes on Live at Pompeii, it's vastly improved to this one from Medal.

Some people may disagree with me but, I think Roger Waters is underrated as a bassist, yes as a singer and songwritter he may be overrated lol, but without him Pink Floyd songs would be empty as hell, his bass lines are cool
@slippinjimmy65114 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Gonveda Waters is my most favorite/influential bassist. Sure he’s not flashy like Geddy Lee but it’s his style that really intrigues me. His approach to the bass guitar is remarkable.

I don't agree with the extent of emptiness pink floyd songs would have without him but he definitely adds impact and fullness to a great band because he's a great bassist. As a bassist I've played everything from Yes, Rush, and The Who (bands with undoubtedly some of the best bassist of all time) and I can tell you that one of my favorite basslines is Echoes.

The one they usually have been used before: delay reverb.

No, the Pompeii version is much funkier, with more aggressive picking and a twangier tone and more muted percussive hits. This softer, barebones version is definitely from Echoes

I do respect roger bass playing and tone, and many times he had interesting lines behind the song, but I think that generally the fact that he uses pick ruins the feel of his sound, groove wise he plays way too many long nots, this is not Rick keyboards, bass should be more rythmic and dynamic than that to my opinion.
@Allen-jn4kx4 ай бұрын
No way, pick sounds great. I love Sting's bass playing with a pick, he lost it when he started doing just fingers.
