You can watch them playing "Echoes" Live in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre of Pompeii 1972 There's a Part 1 and a Part 2 No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt. Gods playing to the Gods!

To me, Another Green World is one of the most unique records of the 70s. I think it defined Eno's future and caused him to move away from glam.

@@pigonthewind7908 Yup. Though I also love 1981's record with David Byrne. And even the 90s record with John Cale, which is much poppier (if that term can even be applied.) Eno is unique.

I REALLY LOVE WATCHING YOUNGER FOLKS LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM FOR THE FIRST TIME!! I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM FOR AT LEAST FIFTY YEARS!! BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT ECHOES FOR A MINUTE!! FOR ME, THE OVERALL PICTURE THAT I GET IN MY MIND FROM THIS SONG IS PREHISTORIC EARTH 🌎. FIRST OF ALL THE INTRODUCTION WITH THE SONIC PING, BUT THEN THE FIRST VERSE PAINTS A PICTURE OF PRIMITIVE EARTH AND LIFE COMING UP FROM THE PRIMORDIAL SEAS!! "OVERHEAD THE ALBATROSS HANGS MOTIONLESS UPON THE AIR, AND DEEP BENEATH THE ROLLING WAVES IN THE LABYRINTHS OF CORAL CAVES! THE ECHO OF A DISTANT TIME COMES WILLOWING ACROSS THE SAND AND EVERYTHING IS GREEN AND SUBMARINE!" THEN THE NEXT PART IS LIFE FIGHTING TOWARDS THE LIGHT COMING FROM THE DARKNESS OF THE PRIMORDIAL SEA! "AND NO ONE SHOWED US TO THE LAND AND NO ONE KNOWS THE WHERES OR WHYS, BUT SOMETHING STIRS AND SOMETHING TRIES, STARTS TO CLIMB TOWARDS THE LIGHT!!" SO THAT SETS THE TONE, IN MY BRAIN, OF THE IMAGERY OF PRIMITIVE EARTH! THEN YOU GET INTO THE MIDDLE PART OF THE SONG AND ALL THE STRANGE SOUNDS THAT SOUND LIKE JUNGLE SOUNDS, AS YOU POINTED OUT ANIMALS!! I KNOW THIS COMMENT IS LONG BUT I MUST TELL A STORY SINCE YOU ARE A YOUNG MAN PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT OLDER THAN I WAS WHEN I WENT TO SEE PINK FLOYD IN 1975!! YES, IT WAS THE SEVENTIES AND NEEDLESS TO SAY THERE WAS A FAIR AMOUNT OF DRUGS AVAILABLE, INCLUDING LSD!! PINK FLOYD HAD JUST-RELEASED DARK SIDE OF THE MOON THE YEAR BEFORE BUT THEY WERE STILL PLAYING A LOT OF STUFF FROM EARLIER ALBUMS!! SO I DID MY ACID AND STARTED TO FEEL THE EFFECTS AND JUST AS I WAS REALLY STARTING TO FEEL THE EFFECTS THEY STARTED GOING INTO ECHOES!! AT THAT TIME, THE ALBUM (DARK SIDE OF THE MOON) WAS RECORDED IN WHAT THEY CALL QUADRAPHONIC SOUND!! THE OUTDOOR STADIUM VENUES WERE SET UP THE SAME WAY WITH TWO BANKS OF SPEAKERS ON THE STAGE AND TWO BANKS OF SPEAKERS BEHIND THE CROWD ON THE FIELD TO GIVE A FOUR SPEAKER EFFECT, PRIMITIVE SURROUND SOUND, SO TO SPEAK!! WITH THIS THEY WERE ABLE TO HAVE SOUNDS MOVE AROUND THE ENTIRE FOUR SPEAKERS SORT OF CIRCULAR LIKE AND GIVING THE ILLUSION OF SPINNING!! SO, IN THE MIDDLE OF ECHOES, WHEN THEY DOING ALL THE CRAZY SOUNDS, THEY STARTED SPINNING IT AROUND THE SPEAKERS AND AT THE TIME I WAS PROBABLY PEAKING ON MY LSD TRIP AND THOUGHT THAT THE STADIUM WAS A FLYING SAUCER GETTING READY TO LIFT OFF INTO SPACE!! I KID YOU NOT!! AND JUST WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE MY MIND AND START FREAKING OUT, THEY WENT BACK INTO THE MORE MELLOW PART OF THE SONG THAT I RECOGNIZED!! IT'S ALMOST AS IF THEY HAD PLAYED IT ESPECIALLY FOR MY TRIP!! ONE OF MY GREATEST MEMORIES OF SEEING PINK FLOYD!!

i really appreciate your takes on some of my favorite albums, it feels honest and sort of a breath of fresh air from other channels. one suggestion i have is Oneohtrix Point Never. Daniel Lopatin basically birthed vaporwave with his work before OPN and has since exploded and has been producing for artists like The Weeknd too. I'd highly suggest R Plus Seven or Replica.

Atom Heart Mother is a solid listen too especially since you seem to be into more mellow songs. It follows the same format as this one, with a side long epic like Echoes, and one really strange track like Seamus...

I think they were trolling us a bit with Shamus, but they were kinda showing their range on this album, From the hard banging One Of These Days, right into their softest and most beautiful song they could make sith Pillow of Winds, to show that side of themselves, then Fearless is kinda an old folk song. San Tropez, some sort of Jazzy calypso, then their dog singing the blues..and of course, then we are on liftoff into another realm with Echoes

This is the album where Gilmour became a guitar god. Hard to say what happened to level him up, but you can hear him smoking over and over on this album: slide, acoustic, and straight up half-time electric blues solos. I'd be curious if anybody know what influenced him to create his signature style here. Because it is him for the rest of his career and there were only glimmers of it before this album.

Echoes was my favorite song until I heard Close To The Edge. I know you like powerful male vocals, so I'm just gonna keep suggesting Superunknown by Soundgarden. Some say Badmotorfinger is their best album, but they really mean Superunknown. Chris Cornell had quite possibly the greatest voice of any rock singer

My favorite Floyd album. It's the middle ground between the old and new in their catalog. It hits the psychedelic and pure musicality perfectly. It's funny you were a bit scared of echoes when it's by far my favorite Floyd song. Beautiful melody and.lyrics veering into abstract painful noise and back again. One of my favorite pieces of music ever.

that whining on echoes is produced by putting your guitars input plug into the output, then the output into the next part of the signal chain, one of the loudest things you can produce with a guitar
