What I loved about the Live 8 performance was that it was Pink Floyd as stripped down as it had been in decades. Just the four of them, with minimal help from one or two extra musicians as needed. Even the light show was basically non-existent. Too bad that we never got to see the classic lineup afterwards (we'd see The Final Cut lineup very briefly six years later).
@thebrazilianatlantis1654 жыл бұрын
Well, Nick played tambourine on "Outside The Wall" on 5/12/2011 after Dave joined Roger for "Comfortably Numb." Technically a reunion. Nick was asked to join Roger and Dave at the 7/10/2010 club show for charity and didn't think it would be a good idea.

@realcapitalist1462 Жыл бұрын
@Capri Undoubtedly. Jealousy, not wanting others to have what you have, and Envy, wanting what other have, appears to have been the root cause of Roger's issues. He thought it was all in the writing but how arrogant was that? Pink Floyd lived on spectacularly without Waters and that must really have been too much for the guy. So sad!
@Drenwickification Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s rather sad. We were robbed of being able to see a Lennon/McCartney reunion but who knows maybe they would have continued to have falling outs like these two! It’s unfortunate though, same as with Johnny Marr and Morrissey

so they hadn't played together in years, they're in their 60s, they're being watched live by millions, and they go up there and totally shred the song like it's 1972. Everything sounds crisp and tight. David's voice is seriously musical honey. Talk about smooth! He has only matured like fine wine. They all have, really. These guys had chemistry that was unmatched and for that reason it is such a shame they broke up in 83. What a waste.

@@totallymeta3654 I'm aware that the Gilmour/Wright/Mason incarnation of Pink Floyd stopped performing in 1994 with the Division Bell tour. I'm (obviously) referring to the fact that this is the first time the classic lineup had played together since the early 80s, when Roger Waters left the band. To many people, a Roger-less Pink Floyd is noticeably inferior. These 4 hadn't been on stage in front of a crowd since the Wall tour, and they still sounded solid, and well rehearsed.
