I never heard more accurate piece of music that describes sudden mental problems. I'm just in love with both parts of the song. Even the second section, in it's contrast it gives an absolutely brilliant image of the mind's explosion.

I’ve never really thought it appropriate to call this a song. It’s another piece of Floyd theatre. Have you ever seen such a visceral and disturbing show of mental breakdown in any other mainstream album? Would it be allowed now? This from 1979. I always find the piece amusing for sneaking in a clip from the 1955 Dam Busters WWII film when a dog was allowed to be called that. Now I can’t even write the colour of the dog in this comment at risk of immediate censorship. It’s history; you don’t have to like it, but you mustn’t hide it or you will learn nothing from it.

I always get caught off-guard by how loud the second half of the song is compared to the first. I once turned my headphone speakers up to 100% to hear the quieter parts, then when the "bad day" came in I had to lower it back down to 40% at *most*.

Some scientists actually did am experiment a decade or two ago to see what album makes chickens shiver the most. Turns out it's "Pink Floyd's the Final Cut" I've always contended that it's probably because of the rapid shifting in volume/intensity, but I only read the abstract, so I don't know if they controlled for that or not. All I knows if, if I was a chicken, I'd be shivering as hell rn
