In 2011, I interviewed the political cartoonist and animator about his work on the animations for PINK FLOYD'S 1975 tour of 'Wish You Were Here'. He then went on to make the famous images for "the Wall" tour and the feature film. I recently unearthed some outtakes from the interview on an old hard drive. Enjoy!!

Perfect illustrations for "The Wall". But. I have often thought of the precedent collaborations of Ralph Steadman and Hunter S. Thompson as the obvious model. Similar illustration style too. Grotesque. Cool interview. Thanks!👍

Like the gent states, the mind makes the connection. I can recall a number of years back there were some rappers (lol) who really believed they'd broke the freakin' mould as they'd become transfixed by playing generic video clips at their shows of random things, animals, a turtle, people smiling, etcetera. Of course, they had only discovered something known since time immemorial, just not to themselves, which is that our minds make the connection. Play Dark Side of the Moon while watching anything remotely whimsical, my god, it lines up! It's true. I used to play it while watching this older Disney film called The Magic Cauldron. No, no, that's incorrect...theee... BLACK Cauldron, that's the one.

the thing about it is , you take dave out of the picture and rogers shows still function on that level , it still hits the nerve . thats not the case with the solo DG stuff . DG live is very meh . the music is fine , but it does not have the emotional impact .
