Yes, Rick Wright's piano section here is beautiful--and at the same time, really haunting. I get chills every time I hear it. Unfortunately, they didn't include this on the studio version. It kind of reminds of Great Gig, but much darker. After Syd died, this was even sadder to listen to... although I guess, in their minds, the Syd they knew had already died.
@sergiorojomusic3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-gk7ok Yeah, the last part already sounds like a funeral march, but in that live version it sounds very different with the guitars and everything... maybe sadder. Very beautiful ending, thou.

It actually called the In The Flesh? Tour. Animal Instincts is the name of one of the bootlegs released of the Oakland show. Good mix of the two parts though. After years and years of getting bad boots of this show, I finally got a good one last year. This is obviously from the same one. The sound is stellar, good enough for an official release, imo.

If I remember correctly, Dick Parry is playing it (I think he played on every Pink Floyd tour between 1973 and 1977, as well as recording in the studio with the band, such as on "Money", "Shine On" and "Wearing The Inside Out").
@SBOReeves2 жыл бұрын

marvelous version, but i have a question, who plays the synth in the final IX part ?? Eventually rick wright is playing the piano, but who plays the synth? (i think it´s a mini moog)
@sergiorojomusic2 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, in those classic tours before The Wall they only hired an extra, Snowy White, as a second guitar player. Since he is playing with Gilmour in Part IX, I think that Rick Wright is playing both the piano and the synth. (In some The Great Gig In The Sky, Wright plays the piano while Gilmour plays the hammond, after playing the slide guitar). I always considered that because I think he is playing a liiittle bit sloppy, trying to play 2 keyboards at the same time. Also, when it's just the piano playing (30:55), before the synth, it sounds like he is playing with both hands. Then, when the synth comes in (31:23), it sounds like he is playing the piano in a very simpler way (with one hand).
