Not familiar with the ladies singing in the concert but, I am fairly sure that a gal named Clare Torey is the originator of the vocals, in the studio, AND IT WAS IMPROVISED by her on the spot. She was just told what message/mood that they wanted to convey and "handed the ball off" to her. AND THE REST IS HISTORY!

The album Pink Floyds "The Dark Side of the Moon" is literally a Bible of modern life and definitely needs to be done in two hits (side 1 / side 2) because tracks transition directly into each other and themes follow 😉

Please do the studio version of Pink Floyd errytime. They're always the reason for the talk :) Clare Torry was the original singer on the album cut. She was asked to just feel the music, and go with it. She not only hadn't heard it before, but she was sailing on the wind and crashing on the waves of her emotions, as far as her own mortality. She wailed as a soul crossing over, to become at peace. It's so incredibly raw and powerful, and Pink Floyd's music gave her the inspiration to let go and do it. They gave each other life - so cool!

One of the best concerts ever and one of the best songs. My #1 band of all time. Masters of their art. What a beautiful way to explain the stages of death (anger, fear, acceptance) with no words. After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. Thanx so much, take care, Peace

If you start the album at the exact same time you start the movie Wizard of Oz, this song plays during the tornado scene. And ends precisely when Dorothy opens the door, and the movie switches to color.

I hope this helps you understand this song. The song before it on the album, "Time", is about how time flies by and suddenly one realizes that so much of life has passesd without us knowing it. This song is about accepting one's own death. At 65 years old, this moves me to tears as it did when I was in high school, but now I know why. I love that you are living your dream.

Wordless vocals - “vocalise” - are definitely not just a Pink Floyd thing. Jazz and Classical singers have been doing it forever, eliminating the last impediment to using the voice as a pure instrument. But no question, Pink Floyd’s use of it here in this piece evoking the end of a life is absolutely stunning, and an epic showcase for the all-star trio of backup singers.

yay, you picked the good one....let me watch, thanks in advance. Actually, the studio version of this song is the one to listen to with Claire Torrey.....trust me worth it to do another reaction to hear the studio version.....tip for pink floyd....live versions are good/great but studio version is where it is Pink Floyd perfect......check out "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V)" studio version of course....it's a long track but outer space is far and it will take you there and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI - IX)" will bring you home safe and warm.

The fellow talking at the start was one of the engineers or some painter working at the music studios when recording this album they asked him a few questions and that was his answers it was so long ago now things get mixed up a bit. That was his fifteen minutes of fame. On properly one of the best albums ever with was on the documentary and a strange man walks into the recording studio and it's their old lead singer Sid and no one recognises him, he looks around and walks off cleaned his act up no drink, drugs and regularly meals. Later find a quiet corner and play this album with the lights off it sounds so much better and use headphones it blocks out road noises and neighbors. I bought my album in the late seventies and my brother gave me his album version plus some others Peter Frampton, Supertramp and Rush now Rush that's a whole new noise you should look into from Canada, It gets a mention on that American show where a mother wants to be in her kids lives and the father comes home and takes his pants off and their Jewish the youngest is called Adam he grew up to be a movie or tv show writer or tv show maker and he's sister Monica and all I can remember about the oldest is beefy and a orange ice-hockey shirt and it mentioned the band Rush from time to time. Floyd from the first pressing, it came out it's worth a small fortune now in Britain thanks bro I had a copy I bought the seller said, that some had album stickers are missing and some didn't have any in them, but in my brother's album he had all stickers were all intact inside in my one not all was there. Even my later copy version sells for hundred pounds that's about 150 with your taxes US. That album was in the US billboard album charts and the British album charts for forty years and stayed in the top one hundred for that many years and dropped to the top two hundred albums charts I don't know about it now with downloads and CDs. Just something else I thought of, two members are dead now the keyboard player Wright and the old lead singer Sid a few years ago who left or maybe kicked out because of drugs useage. Their early stuff with Sid wasn't like this you been playing, it was radical for the sixties when that lot played clubs with oil bubble and flashing lighting and weird sounds and songs like Arnold lane, the bicycle song or Emily or see Emily play I think it was called. Well as we would say, "the Floyd" never used the pink bit, it was always the Floyd Love mom

Dats what I'm talkn bout. You are so entertaining. The music was great, but you are the star in this show. I've been addicted to Floyd since I was 12 and heard Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl back in '80. Every album is a concert, musically and an opera lyrically. It's a story that needs to start at the beginning and played to the end. I don't listen to their "songs", I listen to their albums. You keep up the crazy and I'll keep likin and subscribing.

Nope, it took three people here to score an 8 out of 10 when compared to the original masterpiece created and performed by Clare Torry. Live reaction video is way to dangerous on YT, I suggest doing it in two videos. Side A and Side B You want to be challenged? Take the time (on average 2hr. 8min.) to read the short book Animal Farm before you dive into Pink Floyds album Animals or at least read the very short description of Animal Farm on Wikipedia. No offence meant, but your idea of music is pretty obviously restricted to your own genre. When you have had an album in the charts for around 19 consecutive years as was Dark Side of the Moon from which this track is taken, then I might have a bit more respect for your opinion. I also have to wonder a little bit how someone (presumably involved in the music industry) can have so little knowlledge of its history. Sorry, but you put your opinions out there and these are mine.
