What still blows my mind is the fact that a group of guys who were still in their 20s created such masterpieces. I know it’s an overused word, but in this case, it truly applies.

This song. Verse one makes me feel embarrassed. Verse two, middle age, is just plain brutal. And verse three, old age, life reduced to a little comfort with the church bells ringing out the next funeral in the distance... depressing as hell, but, put it all together, and it's one of the most amazing pieces of poetic music ever. What the hell.

Saeed, I followed you over here from you reacting to the incredible, mesmerizing, and very sweet, humble, and graceful.........the one and only........Lucy Thomas, who has the best vocals (really not even close) on the Planet now, and could be ever, if she has a long career! Pink Floyd, like Lucy, is very precise, very articulate, and their music, like Lucy Thomas, stirs up powerful emotions where you feel what David is playing as his guitar energy steps into your very being and whisks you away into a state of serene, tranquil, musical bliss!

What is remarkable about Roger Waters (lyricist) is that he manages to say a lot, with very few words (233 words in this song). He perfectly masters metaphorical and poetic styles to express his ideas, while leaving ample room for the imagination of his listeners. Suggested future reaction: (Brain Damage + Eclipse), studio version with lyrics. Do not separate them, since they are indivisible.
