Thanks! So cute. I have a 3 year old neighbor girl I might make one for and customize it with a longer dress and sleeves. Reminds me of those long ago rag dolls that had a sleeping face and an awake face. I can do that with your pattern and make one side with a flannel nightgown and the other with a dress. I think they were topsy turvy or something but this can just be 2-sided. Your video was great and so cheerful. I'd like to see more little sewing project videos.

Hi! Thanks for bringing us this cuteness. I would like to suggest that instead of closing the doll by the head, leave the opening in the leg part. This will make the head rounder and the seam hidden at the back of the legs. God bless your work.

I have sewn numerous bears and stuffed toys and never close the rounded head areas. No rounded areas ever. We generally start away from a rounded area , and use the ladder stitch for all closures. I never place stuffed appendages inside when sewing around the body of the doll or bear. Everything is sewn in place , right side to right side , legs and arms placed in position as directed .I never stuff arms and legs prior and try to include them in the body of the doll or bear when sewing the larger portion . I sew the body and head area. Arms and legs sewn with small areas left open posteriorly . The tops of the legs and arms will be left open to pull right side out before including them in the side dress seam. In this particular pattern , enclosing all the appendages inside the body and head.This is a small doll and requires a lot of work and time. I want my doll to look as lovely as I can make her. Time is precious and materials can be very expensive depending on what you are using and making. Hope this method makes sense. It really is easy , but the result is very nice.

I love your dolls. I love the tutorials, so clear and precise. I also love the way you take your time and talk with such a sweet voice instead of just rushing through. Thank you for the free pattern. I appreciate it.

Thank you so much! Years ago I made some of the black apple dolls for little twin girls in the family! I had forgotten where I got the pattern, but thanks for reminding me. It was from the Martha Stewart show! They were adorable then and just as adorable now! I love your pink lemonade version, too! I have some new little girls to sew some for!

I was just browsing for an easy and simple doll pattern and came across yours which I very much interested in. A part from the felt what other type of materials you use
@tessiesnow65713 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad to hear you liked the tutorial! The fabric on the doll is all 100% cotton… quilting cottons :) except for the felt for the hair. The stuffing is polyester I believe and can be bought at any craft store.

You said that you double pin so you would remember NOT to keep sewing. Here is a hint that I found very useful for that.....I use only RED pins! When I see a RED pin, I know when to stop and start. I do NOT use them anywhere else in my sewing...just for starting and stopping.

Yes! I learned how to make these from the Black Apple Dolls on Martha Stewart years ago! I talked about that on my website in the original post, but I realized that I hadn't mentioned it here. Thanks so much for the reminder! I've updated the text under the video to include the original Black Apple post and I'll be updating the video soon :)
