Here's a simple recipe for Gulabi Chai (Pink Tea):
Ingredients:
2 cups water
2 cups milk
3-4 teaspoons loose black tea leaves
4-5 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
3-4 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
2-3 cloves
1 small piece of cinnamon stick
A pinch of saffron strands
A few drops of rose water
Pink food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
2. Add the loose black tea leaves, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water.
3. Let the tea simmer for 3-4 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse their flavors into the water.
4. Add the milk to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent the milk from boiling over.
5. Once the tea comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for another 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
6. Stir in the sugar, saffron strands, and rose water, and continue to simmer for a few more minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved and the tea reaches your desired sweetness.
7. If you'd like to enhance the pink color of the tea, add a few drops of pink food coloring and stir until well combined. Adjust the amount of food coloring according to your preference.
8. Once the tea is ready, strain it into serving cups or a teapot to remove the tea leaves and spices.
9. Serve the Gulabi Chai hot, garnished with a few saffron strands or rose petals for an elegant touch.
Enjoy your delicious and aromatic Gulabi Chai as a delightful twist on traditional tea!
