Are Pink Salmon repeat spawners?? like Atlantic salmon
@newflyfisher5 жыл бұрын
No they are not repeat spawners but as studies on some Great Lakes rivers have shown, some pinks will enter a river but not spawn until the following year. Our original post/answer was "yes" and this was incorrect as these responses indicated. Sorry for any confusion and thanks to all for the feedback! Here is some info on return pinks who don't spawn in the 2nd year but do so in the 3rd year: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0380133086717048

@@newflyfisher They absolutely DO NOT! None of the pacific salmon repeat spawn. All 5 of the pacific salmon species die after spawning. Atlantics are the only salmon species that repeat spawn.

@@newflyfisher Maybe they are on the great lakes, but highly doubt it. The pink salmon is a Pacific salmon and they all die after spawning, that is the distinguishing factor between Atlantic and pacific salmon.
