My young Pinkerton with 6 fruits just dropped one, looks like it may ripen, hope so as I've never tasted one. Best of luck with yours. My 4th try with a Reed is throwing out new growth so looks like I might finally have a winner. What a dry warm winter, was 90 here yesterday.

A beginner avo grower here--dozen diff types in the ground less than 2 yrs. It's generally assumed that small trees of any kind are seriously stunted, growth paused when allowed to fruit much while young. The fact that one dropped it's fruit suggests it's not strong enough to carry the burden yet. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for the info! (those all look very small to be carrying fruit)

Hi Bo: You are definitely correct. It is great that you and I are both on this avocado journey and I am by no means an avocado expert either. A lot of people just pick off the fruits when the avo trees are so young, but I like to just have them drop off naturally. Sometimes if I am lucky, I will have 1 or 2 fruits hang on. Just a thought, I've heard that staking trees stunts growth. Might be a reason they aren't showing a lot of growth. I know it's a common practice but in nature nobody goes around staking trees.

I believe the recommended method of staking is to have two or three stakes about 1 foot away from the trunk and tie the tree to the stakes with green stretchable garden ties. That way, the tree is supported but it still can sway with the wind to promote trunk growth and stability.

I bought a grafted nobal plant I hope its a real Nobal tree ?? Any way of knowing if it's what they said it is? It's like two feet tall

Nice... Lost my Nabal due the intense heat wave in 2018. Where did you get yours?

Sorry you lost your Nabal in 2018. I bought by Nabal at Louie's Nursery in Riverside, California in a #15. I would call them before you go to see if they have them in stock, I did not see a Naba there the last two times I went. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching!

@@johnnysworld-backyardorchard thanks for the feedback, was just at louie's last week. Their stock is a little low right now. I did ask someone there and they mentioned that they are getting a huge shipment of avocados soon. I'm not too far from them so will have to check back soon. I did just pick up an Anaheim avocado.
