I feel sorry for the car. It was smoked TWICE by traffic and happened to PO a little old lady. Pinky wasn't hurt and was protected by the car anyway. Finally, Pinky returns the car. WHY? He didn't do anything really wrong, I suppose it's a proper ending for such a cartoon, but still, poor car.

There's a song, by Jan Berry (from the period where all of the Pink Panther cartoons were being made) called: The Little Old Lady From Pasadena, who won drag races with the prized being the title to the loser's car.... I'm thinking that this song may be what is behind this cartoon.

I didn't see the year that this was made in, but I have the feeling that the process to make this cartoon must have been after the song: "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena was #1 on the charts!!!

@@leifvejby8023 When that song was popular and we (my family I was 12 at the time) were doing 100 mph (~ 161 kph) down a highway in the part (of the state) of Kansas, this song was on the radio and up came a Chevrolet Super Sports' car with a hood scope that had 454 SS on it (454 cubic inch ~ 6.7L with a high performance fuel system) that was going perhaps 10 mph (~16.1 kph) faster than we were. We made a joke about it, because there was a 60+ year old woman driving it. Then we burst out laughing because the trim around her Californian license plate was from a Pasadena Chevy dealership!!!!!

One of our costumers was a little old lady in her late 80s who drove an anononymous (no stickers or anything to show what it was) VW Golf VR6 Turbo, good for about 140 mph. She used it for surprising "the boys". Rarely drove it faster than 200 km/h (about 125 mph), she said. She lived to be 100, and died peacefully in her sleep about 15 years ago - we still miss her!

The Pink Panther is one of my childhood favourites, and I do like a vast majority of his cartoons a lot. Pink Pistons is one of his better ones from 1966. It does run out of mileage at the end, with the ending being too predictable and abrupt. Everything else though is just great. The animation is very nicely done, simply designed but also elegantly with colours that are very easy on the eye and look as if they were done with thought and care. The music from the incidental music to the theme is still as catchy and infectious ever, succeeding in enhancing the gags and giving the cartoon a sense of life and energy while giving it time to breathe also. The gags and premise are among the funniest and most creative of the Pink Panther cartoons. Pinky is cool and likeable, and the Granny is hilarious and probably one of my favourite Pink Panther secondary characters. Overall, another great Pink Panther cartoon
