Christine...I'm going to share this video and emphasize your opening remarks to my subscribers. I'm 70 and I'm so much with you on this. As much as I love this beauty community here on youtube, at some point some of us just have to stop with the direction these channels are going of feeling that we have to have every single product that we see. We use the expression that we are "collectors" - we (and I include myself) are actually hoarders. My collection was never as large as yours but it could have been. This past year I've pretty much stopped purchasing. I think long and hard about something before shelling the $$ out. I have much less and life is so much easier...Love your videos. YOU are such an inspiration to all women here and I believe you are a very sweet, old soul...love, patti

patti, Well said! I am in complete agreement with you. I made a comment on one of Christine's previous videos talking about reducing her makeup collection. I spoke about my own experience in my late 30's and early 40's in which I had to take a good look at all of the makeup I collected. I realized that I was throwing away my money and buying all the new colors that came out every year. But I didn't need all of that makeup. I was embarrassed with myself and promised that going forward I would only buy what I really needed. I either threw out or gave away what I did not need. From that point on my makeup collection was much smaller and reflected what I actually used. I have been really surprised watching some youtubers with their unbelievable makeup collections. It is absolutely not necessary to buy every new product! I really admire what Christine has done. It can give you such a good feeling.. Thanks for your comments!
@christinekobzeff10 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Patti. So true, once you've been in the beauty community for years, whether it be watching or making videos... There is a point you reach, where it just stops making sense to keep on buying like there's no tomorrow. The speed at which we buy makeup far exceeds the speed at which we're able to use up products. As much as we love makeup, it's a situation that simply isn't sustainable, nor is it economically feasible for most of us to spend continuously on beauty products, the way that many beauty gurus do. Controlling a passion and obsession is so hard. The easiest way I've found is to balance it with other passions and obsessions lol. Hey, whatever works right. ;) And just like you said, now I think long and hard about something before parting with my hard earned money. xoxo Christine

Thank you Christine...I'm so much older than you and honestly you've already learned what so many learn in later years. That's just one reason you are an old soul. My daughter is one - I've known it all her life. The two of you are wise beyond your years. BTW, if you haven't figured it out yet, the feeling you get from working hard and not spending too much and saving - well, it's the best! It's much better than a new lipstick! xoxo Patti

THANK GOD!!! Finally coming across a Makeup Collection video without that damn Alex drawer from IKEA. Not that it isn't great, it is! I understand why people like it so much. But after seeing about 45 videos with the exact same set up, it gets old. Your vanity is absolutely beautiful!

Wow....I just started watching your videos today and I started with the 7 de-cluttering series and I just finished up with this one. You did an amazing job of downsizing, I have never been into collecting beauty products and was awestruck by the sheer volume of goods you owned. You have a much more manageable collection now and it's displayed beautifully...well done.

Love what you had to say in the beginning you are so on the mark. I remember when you went through in stages your collection and I still think you have a lot of makeup, not too much and not too little probably the perfect amount and each item means something and still has value for you, that is the goal right!
@alliek200310 жыл бұрын
Christine, you've been my biggest inspiration the past 1.5 years. I've drastically cut down my spending on beauty products. I used to go to the MAC counter every weekend to find "unique" products....and now almost all of those have been Back2MAC'd. I moved last year & now only have a drug store in my town. Instead of justifying the products as "inexpensive" & buying everything in sight, I realized I'd rather be able to buy quality products I know will work for my skin tone & lifestyle & that I will use on a daily basis. Now I enjoy my occasional Sephora orders & drugstore purchases & look forward to using amazing products! I've gotten rid of SO much in the past year, my collection is probably less than half what it was 3 years ago & fits in a small wicker basket, a pen/pencil organizer, & a couple repurposed candle jars! Thank you so much Christine!!

I absolutely love your collection and organisation, it's refreshing to see someone on youtube who doesn't have a collection to rival most department stores. I have the ikea dresser with the one drawer & a muji storage unit (how blogger cliche of me) which houses all of my makeup and I think thats a manageable collection. Everything I own gets used as i'm constantly rotating my products and anything that doesn't is given to friends & family. This year I also put myself on a 10 makeup product restriction and i've bought 4 out of my 10 so far. I put things on my list and if I still want them in a few months I check them out in store and go for it, i've had enough of my makeup impulse buying, it started to get really out of control! xx

Your organisation videos are soo helpful :) I'm really into organisation but I struggle with presentation and coordinating things to look pretty at the same time as keeping minimalistic and utilising space (I'm a bit of a hoarder .. Guilty.) you are literally my inspiration and I always come to your videos when I need new ideas for decorating and organising. Thank you so much for helping me to refresh and declutter my life and for doing what you do! Lots of love from England and take care xXx

Hello Christine ! I hope moving very soon this year because I can't wait to have a vanity ! For my makeup, I store everything in a plastic tower with 12 drawers ! It's not very easy to see what I can use everyday ! I want to thank you for sharing your so pure way of living and thinking and I won't copy you because no one is the same but thanks to you, I began to purge my makeup so that I'm now conscious I have too many products (but less than some girls on KZbin) so I decided I won't buy makeup anymore until I finish one color or an other. So, hoping I would be clear in this comment (I'm french and it's been a long time I studied English), I really thank you again for having opened my eyes for distinguishing the most important things in my life ! -Sophie

omg..finally someone who admits that having a huge collection of makeup is not glamourous..hope half these makeup collection ladies take after you cause you have a good head on your shoulders and you know that taking it to the extreme is not wise...i have 6 alex drawers filled now and i have noticed i did way too much in spending&way too many collections..thank you for having common sense&knowing the difference between having a good amount of makeup&then having too much..after seeing your video i must downsize too,,its just stupid for someone to have so much makeup when it will take them more then a lifetime to go through&makeup does have experation dates on them..wise woman you are!!!! great video

+perfectly. pinky These videos are for people who like makeup collections, not for people who disagree. If you don't like people having a large makeup collection then simply don't watch those videos.
@makeupdeva61669 жыл бұрын
+angela thanasiu I personally think you can never have too much makeup. Makeup expires faster after you open it. I don't open any makeup until I'm ready to start using it. I have lots of mascaras but I don't open any of them until I'm ready to use ONE. What's the point of have all of your makeup open at the same time if you can only use a few then they all start expiring. I am currently growing my collection and I like having it all. If I don't open it and someday have a daughter, I can give some to her, or if someday I decide that I don't want it all then I can donate it unopened or sell it. There are so many textures, colors and shades of makeup that I don't think you can go wrong with having a bunch. Most of my makeup I have been able to buy when it is on sale or I had a coupon or both and I buy most of it online where I can get cash back through a shopping portal, and I also get membership points through makeup companies where I can get products for free.

+Adeva Hotz i am not saying i don't agree- i mentioned i have 6 alex drawers but just got another recently and thats filled already! why would i disagree when i have 7 filled myself?christine has the right idea-half these makeup goo rus make me laugh cause they have so many products opened &its like you said have too many opened &they expire after awhile &then before you know it you have $$$$$ wasted on makeup that went bed that you couldn't use up.it is wiser to have a small collection that way nothing is getting wasted! see what i am saying
@makeupdeva61669 жыл бұрын
I knew you said you had 6 Alex drawers filled with makeup. I was more writing about the part that you said you had to down size. Why throw away or give away stuff that you paid for? You can work on using the stuff first that will expire and save all your powder stuff for last that won't expire. That way you can still keep your collection, not waste anything, but also still down size by using up what you have and not buy anymore. That's the order I use my products, but I'm still working on my older makeup that I had before I bought all this new stuff (I bought it because it was on sale or limited edition etc.). But when I'm ready to open something, it'll be any of a liquid, cream or a gel product like a blush or eyeliner etc. and only one of each before I do another powder so that the liquid/cream/gel doesn't dry out.

Beautiful job Christine…and well said about the excesses!!! How easy it is to fall into the purchasing every collection trap. That's why so many commercials are geared towards women and the ads in women's magazines are over the top!!! I found myself getting so involved with every seasons new campaigns! As soon as I realized I did not need that much makeup…I will never ever empty all that stuff…why am I still buying more? I felt so free. That's why Marketing people get paid so much money…to rope us in! Nice find with the glass shelves at that price, my kmart had them for $60.00!!

Really nice collection. It's not too much but definitely more than what I have. I'm glad that you took the extra mile and got rid of the things you don't use. Some KZbin's keep something makeup that is dried out and doesn't even work anymore and what's the point of that? You don't have a balance of high end and drugstore which is what I would have if I had a large collection. And your way of thinking is definitely not the same as mine. This is a good sized collection! I have an alex six drawer from ikea (the short wide one) and the first four drawers house all of my makeup... The last two deeper drawers hold my nail polishes/nail products, and hair tools/hair products...You can actually fit quite a lot in it because the drawers are wide and go deep in... I think it's more important to focus on quality not quantity... And I'm crazy about having everything symmetrical too! I always buy things in pairs... Lol

I just have 2 drawers (from the Ikea Alex 9 drawer unit) dedicated to makeup. I don't feel like its a lot, especially since one drawer holds all my face stuff and the other is for eyes and lips. I need to find a new way to store my lipsticks though, lipsticks are my favorite makeup products so it makes sense I have a lot of them.

I would love to know what shadows you have on your eyes while filming this video!! Great job on the video, it has inspired me to get my collection organized!

This tour kind of brings some things full circle, doesn't it? And it makes me realize how long I've been subscribed and following you because I remember when the de-cluttering started! How amazing! Thanks so much for sharing ALL of this!! xojenny
