I love van der Sar, he’s my favourite gk ever. It might sound weird but honestly, if I had to build a gk in a lab, he’d come out like Edwin vd Sar. Good on the line, on crosses, with his feet, on penalties, excudes calmness (very important), coaches his defenders, tall yet flexible etc etc.. he had it all. I don’t think there’s a gk like that in football history.

I love this man so much! I met him once when i was doing my level 2 coaching badge. There was United soccer school on the pitch next to ours and we noticed him turn up, about 30min later we see him being ushered to the car by united staff and he saw what we was doing so he came over introduced himself to every coach there i remember him getting to me n i wanted to hug the bloke but he gave me a hand shake n i remember thinking bloody hell his hands are MASSIVE lol he watched a couple of the drills we was coaching because it was evaluation day. He gave us some tips and idea's, there was 3 of us who took that advice straigh away and we ended up the only 3 that passed the course! Stay well edwin you helped my coaching career so much with so little but it will never be forgotten!

I'm a former gk-coach and I grew up watching Schmeichel as Uniteds first keeper. When Peter left it took a while until United had some stability in goal. When Edwin arrived I got the same feeling again, just wished he would have arrived earlier. Amazing years and memories and so happy to see VDS feeling good again, legend! ❤

I support Juventus since late 90's, i was surprised when i watched PL in early 2000 and saw Van der Sar playing for Fulham, with all due respect it's not his level, but it's good thing that Man Utd took him and put him back where he belongs, among the best of the best

I thought Rio would recall how once Van Der Sar broke his nose against Tottenham. All subs had been used up, Rio took the gloves to replace Van Der Sar in goal, but later they shifted and Oshea went in goal, obviously because Rio was needed more as a CB. Man Utd was such a team!!! Everyone was willing to die for their teammate.
