Fender should sell this stencil, the locking tuners don’t even fit on every of their necks

Good video! I have seen a stencil for locking tuners from Rockinger Guitars in Germany. Some other companies also selling these.

Can you provide links to the tools used, please?

Please check the description box. After reading your comment, I updated it with a complete list of tools, with links included. I didn't include links for the generic tools I have, like the 5-flute countersink and pin vise, which I just had lying around, but added as much information about them as possible. Let me know if I missed anything. Hope this helps.

@guitar_md Thank you so much. I suffered a brain injury that caused memory loss. While I've slowly been rebuilding my life, I've become a bit of a hobbyist Luthier and really enjoy it.

@nmcgregor1990 Glad to be able to help. On newer videos I have in the works I'm including text overlays mentioning the tools and specific techniques used. I have many voiceovers but am experimenting with different formats. What do you think? Would you have any preference in terms of information presentation? Wish you the best..luthiery, or rather what I do in the guitar tech realm -- it's all extremely rewarding. I don't have a brain injury but have another form of injury and guitar is just about the only thing I have left that keeps me going. It's a great world of infinite exploration. Been playing and doing tech work for 20 years now and still don't have enough time in a day to do all the things I want with it.

@guitar_md I think your video here is perfect at showing what needs to be done. Just the addition of links to tools and names of tools was my only suggestion, and you've very quickly done that. I'm very sorry to hear you suffered an injury yourself! Your work definitely doesn't suffer for it, though. This was exquisite! ❤️ I'll look forward to watching more of your videos! Thanks again for being so accommodating to my request 🥰

I myself strongly prefer the vintage Kluson style tuners. On all my personal guitar assemblies, I use Gotoh Vintage Staggered tuners. By far my favorite. And much easier to install. Guitars and Woods sells a jig for them that may make them even easier to install. But certainly my favorite. I haven't used anything else on any of my personal guitars in many years. String changes are dead simple too. I even put two sets on my Blueridge 12 string. It came with lower quality split post tuners and the Gotohs were a tremendous upgrade.

Wayyyyyy too much work and overthinking this. Took me 15 mins to put them on my Squier bullet strat neck. First I drilled the holes bigger with a long step bit, then I got 1 and 6 where I wanted them and clamped a thin board to back of headstock so they’re perfectly straight and square. Then for each tuner push down hard enough to indent the two prongs into the wood. Drill with the correct size bit and set the depth with some tape on the bit. Then install the tuners. Mine are perfectly straight and look factory. Not saying what u did is wrong at all cuz it’s not just overly complicated for an easy job.

That's how I usually do it. Takes a fraction of the time and it's more than accurate enough
