I enjoy the implication that whatever alien race that Miku is here, has basically customizable skin that can display anything she wants like a green screen suit, and merely displays an amicable, more earthling-like appearance to appear less alien (and the even more subtle implication she turned her face into a cat's because, hey, earthlings love cats, but not when it's on a humanoid's face) I can imagine pretty easily Miku making contact with an earthling under the impression looking like a cat would ease them, only to have to tell them not to shoot her, and changes her face to something less creepy

Is it me or all of the animated lyrics in the background are all in Katakana, plus the complex font that was used? Maybe that's one way to interpret the misunderstanding between Miku and Mr. Earthling. About the part: "Can you hear me? Hey--", she was about to say something after but was cut off because of them not understanding Miku, proceeded shooting her, or in this case, her ship even though she already told them not to shoot her. For instance, I'm going to be picturing scenes from the lyrics: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Earthling!" but the Earthling pointed whatever gun he was using. "Don't shoot me yet!" but then the Earthling didn't understand her so he proceeding readying himself to fire Miku while on the other hand, greeting him again. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Earthling!" but soon she noticed that any second the Earthling will pull the trigger so she shouted: "Can you hear me?"

It's called the Golden Record and there's two of them. They're kinda like vinyl discs. One side has instructions on how to play the disc and find our star, and the other side (which is playable) features songs and photographs. They were meant to be found by aliens or by us in a distant future. That's why the record is so prevalent in this song, Miku found it :)
