Daedalus Attack was used first in episode 6 of the original SDF Macross. Yes, they called it as such. Macross Attack in episode 27 is a bit different because they used the ship's prow instead of the Deadalus to perform the attack. Of course the "Macross Attack" in Frontier is more like the former, performing a punch with the reinforced Daedalus.

Well in the first Macross the Deadalus was still a seperate ship just connected together because it had to due to the fold going wrong. So technically it wasn't part of the Macross yet that is why they called it the Deadalus attack because it was the Deadalus attacking not the Macross. But later on it becomes a Macross attack because it is just a Macross ship punching.

Well. Quarter is a composite vessel,made out by docking five separate warships. But calling it a *ARMD ATTACK!* is kinda lame. Bobby freakin' holsters the carrier in episode 7 so he can manhandle Vajra ship, so, this.

If you think about it, it's literally a punch with the weight of an entire spaceship behind it. The enemy ship will fold like wet tissue paper.

@@LordZero666 What you didn't mention is that the Macross/Daedalus attack also involves focusing the shields at the tip of the "fist" so it rips through the other ship without damaging your own. Given that the Battle Galaxy and Battle Frontier are sister ships with similar designs with regards to the superstructure and armor, the punch should have wrecked the arm going in. But if you watch very carefully you can see a glowing forcefield around both the striking surface of the Frontier and the Quarter before they make contact. If we want to be very picky it could be said that the Frontier didn't exactly do a Macross attack as there is a second phase of the technique where phase 1 is when you shove the fist through the exterior armor and then open hatches on the arm where either mech or rack mounted missiles attack the unarmored interior. The Galaxy splits in half without a bunch of explosions so would guess Frontier hit their main generator and it instantly blew apart the torso so the upper/lower sections immediately come apart.

When i watched this when it was first aired i was screaming my head of it gave me chills and it still dose. Felt sorry for the battle galaxy when battle frontier punched it in half. Good ships don't deserve to die just like the Yamato.

Honestly the worst way to go down in any sci fi. Having an aircraft carrier punch through your ships hull and launch nuclear missiles into your ship. It was just plain dirty tactic that works and it is epic

The Cheyenne IIs used here aren't loaded with Reaction Missiles(Macross's "nukes"). Those were just AA missiles.

Daedalus Attack = pinpoint barrier punch with the Daedalus (right "arm" of the SDF-1)...also called the "ARMD Attack" in the DYRL version (cf the PS1 game) Macross Attack : the whole Macross roam into the ennemy

It's called Daedalus Attack in the original because it was launched in the Daedalus battleship attached as the right arm of the Macross. In Do You Remember Love, it was named ARMD Attack because in place of the Daedalus and Prometheus ships as arms of the Macross, there were ARMD space battleships.

Daedalus wasnt a battleship, it was a 'semi-submersible aircraft carrier' though today we would call it a Landing Platform Dock with the well dock and flight deck.

It is the New SDF Battle class Macross, Macross Galaxy Battle Frontier and Battle 7 are the same but because they are in different location and runned buy different people the upgrades to the Macross battle class can be different. Just like the Macross Galaxy is so different due to them as a science research fleet and always making upgrades.
