Featured in this video is Pinnacle Delivery Service's lead driver Paul Tomlinson explaining and demonstrating his self-taught method of loading. The total tote count for this route was 19 and the overflow was around 20.
He loads from the slider door first and unstacked the cart to access the last tote first and loads the van in rows of along the far driver side wall. He then loads from the rear door and sorts them out by the yellow sticker label in alphabetical sequence; A - F. In order to store all 19 totes, he did not use the foldable shelves.
The totes were loaded in sequence based on the Rabbit. And the overflow was organized in the rear of the van.

This dude actually did a phenomenal job, it’s why Amazon needs to give them a raise and stop letting them leave.

good video Amazon have got parcel delivery sorted but if you start off working for Amazon but at some point you decide to work at a different parcel carrier etc it will be different eg you'll be shown a pile of 100-150 parcels in a pile which you'll be expected to put in drop order before loading your own van etc which can take 60-90 mins etc but better to spend extra time in depot loading 100+ parcels in drop order as this will save you time on the road etc -/ the best high volume parcel drivers dawdle or drive sjowly because they are always thinking 10 drops in front of their current drop etc - most people don't realise that you don't need to rush when delivering parcels etc - a parcel delivery driver just needs a consistent pace and the ability to think through your whole route before leaving the depot eg if you have a hairdressers or chippy on your route most hairdressers and chippy's are closed on Mondays so no need to take those parcels out as you'll have to take them out only to bring them back etc so better leaving them in the depot and write closed Monday s on parcel etc and make a work space on back floor of van that you can sort parcels in to order etc and of you don't know any parcel routes etc it gets easier once you get to know a route which will give you confidence in your ability which will help you relax and take your time and don't get stressed out because then you'll keep telling yourself you'll never be able to deliver all the parcels and the more you tell you yourself you won't be able to deliver all the parcels you'll run out of time etc but parcel delivery is as easy or as difficult as the driver makes it for themselves etc but parcel delivery will get you to some lovely houses and beautiful scenery and keep you fit etc - hope this helps someone from someone who spent many years as a multidrop parcel delivery driver that could float across 12 routes etc

That’s great and all when you have time but when you have some stations screaming to hurry up that’s not the case and you just have to throw all those suckers in without organizing it smh.

Your stations need to chill, it's required by Amazon that they give you at least 20 minutes to load you vans. If you have trouble with it I would just load up as fast as you can and organize at your first stop for 20 mins or so.

I’m trying to figure out how to know the order
@itzanopinion
@itzanopinion 2 жыл бұрын
depends on how your warehouse stacks their carts... At my warehouse, the order is as follows: TOP ROW > LEFT TO RIGHT Tote 1 > Tote 2 > Tote 3 Middle Row > Left To Right Tote 4 > Tote 5 > Tote 6 Bottom Row > Left To Right Tote 7 > Tote 8 > Tote 9 We use the "First In ~ First Out" Method.... We also do NOT have to scan each tote/over-size...we just scan the QR code on the cart itself! :-)

Less than helpful. No explanation as to why the last goes in first, is he going to take packages from the front or back, no arrangement of the first bag package according to yellow tags or address….👎🏼

Not gonna lie this has to be the worst way of loading I've ever seen. Most drivers at my company do not have a good way of loading their vans and it definitely hurts them. What I do is load all of my totes in the front half of the van, usually I never have more than 17 totes. I put a couple behind the wall where the seat is, then make two rows back to back, the first row has two bags on top of one another, so 6 in total. The second row is where I would stack three high if needed. Then I have the whole back half of the van for oversize. Going in ascending order, I load my last oversize first, it makes it easier to stack and cram 40+ oversize in a small space. The first oversize packages to be offloaded will be right up against the back door, easily able to take them out.
