From a design perspective, barnacles are really interesting. It looks like for all entities besides the player, the target is killed when they touch the tongue, not when the enter the mouth. And of course this game would be detailed enough to have the barnacle die when eating a poison headcrab

I think the reason the acid antlion died upon it hitting the antlion guard is due to a script with its AI package that often prevents it from being used by the player to kill the antlion guard(s) you encounter in episode 2.
