Cool video. FYI there was a simpler way to deal with the trash compactor grate. After picking up the crowbar you can jump off a crusher, crouch while in mid-air, and land on the grate; it will break under your weight. Fat Gordon strats. Obviously it's not intended, it's a NASTY softlock if you don't pick up the crowbar.

Imagine being in the shoes of one of the soldiers Gordon kills by the dozen: it's already crazy enough in normal gameplay where a single scientist running around with a crowbar decimates your entire squad, but if he does that while completely locked in a single direction from the waist up, ducking and weaving like Neo just to position people in front of him and blasting them in an instant... It's even more imposing than if he was T-posing the entire time, which is also a pretty hilarious mental picture.

Every HD model option/mod that isn't strictly the same but with more polygons has that same problem, case in point, the HDTP mod for Deus Ex, completely changes how weapons and their animation look like, some for much worse, and is a requirement for pretty much every mod out of there for the game. In order to do the We've Got Hostiles skip you need to save in the elevator before the map change in order to preform what's called an AI abuse. An AI abuse is essentially an abuse of a glitched mechanic where all NPCs can open any door. However, if the map is reloaded the glitch resolves itself and the skip is no longer possible, which is why you need to save in the elevator before the map change. Beyond that it's just a matter of shooting the scientist and blocking him from going into the trip mine, which is as simple as either closing the blast doors or just standing by them.
@goon-705 Жыл бұрын
Also the Dam skip you were trying to do is only possible if you tau jump or damage boost across the canyon, after that you need to break the fall damage somehow which I believe is easier done via a ladder located around there. I would not say that skip is particularly practical given the circumstances.

I recently did the same thing as part of a livestream and I had to cheat in 3 or 4 places, because I didn't find a way to do it(or didn't want to waste too much time hehe) so it was exciting to see how you managed to do it. You can definitely do a lot more speedrun strats as well, for example Powerup skip is big. Or on the IHD map you can use a grenade to get up onto the roof (before the snarks) and skip a big portion of the map. Do you know how long it took you to finish the whole game? Thx for the content

The We've Got Hostiles skip is performed by jumping up onto the outside of the chainlink fence before the vent in the room with the first turret and making a Headcrab jump up after you then using the Headcrab as a stepstool to get over the fence and into the vent, allowing you to crawl right to the security room. It's surprisingly easy once you figure it out. I barely remember We've Got Hostiles or Power Up because I usually just skip right past them. Edit: Well, one of them. There's multiple ways to skip the whole chapter.
