Christmas day last year i got my Pintail 46 and i was so stoked i didn't even finish opening my other presents, 3 o'clock in the morning and i was shredding every hill i could find. After a year of having it i couldn't of wanted a better board, I've never had a problem with her either, she treats me right :) Thanks Original, what you guys do makes all of our lives as riders better!

Great video! The pintail is sick, I love it - throws it back to old school longboarding. The industry is SO preoccupied with downhill and super intense technical freeriding, I feel like it sometimes forgets its origins. I also enjoyed seeing Lindsay out there - I've talked to her over the phone before and I always see her commenting on videos and pictures. It is great to actually see the face behind the voice! I love Original - you guys and girls are the classic muscle in the longboard industry.

You got it RC. Any time I start someone out riding I always look to the Pintail 40 first and foremost. There are a lot of reasons its super easy to start there and far easier than many of our more advanced decks. For that reason alone Pintails will never go out of style even though I personally may not spend as much time on mine as I did when I was learning.

I was just about to purchase the Quest Super Cruiser Bamboo longboard 44in because I'm on a budget. but I also notice that some people like the other shaped long board thats not a pintail and doesn't have pointed nose. What is the difference in performance with the different shapes?

Always good to have cash burning a hole in your pocket, not to mention a kick ass cousin. Plus she can only get better with a rad board under her feet. How tall and how heavy is she? Most of the time a Pintail 40 is a great starter but it really depends on the riders height and weight more than anything.

I have an apex 40 and she had her feet under it and complained it was too long (that's what she said) so I reckon I might get the 37 and she's 5'7 and I think 100-120.

Austin Sheridan Hey Austin, I would take a serious look at the Pintail 43 or Pintail 46 for cruising and carving on flats or small hills. If you are thinking of getting into so faster stuff or bigger hills something like the Drop Freeride 41 or even Drop Freeride 44 would be great to learn to slide / go a little faster. The Apex 40 DiamondDrop would be good for that stuff but also give a big bonus in terms of tricks etc. Lastly the Arbiter KT has been a go to board for me this year more DH focus to it.

I'm a 13 year old girl, 115 lbs and 5 3 and I'm looking to get into some type of skateboarding. cruising sounds good for me but I'm not sure if I'd like to try tricks in the future, I would also eventually like to try and bomb hills since I live in New England where there's all types of terrain to skate. if I get an average skateboard then I would only be able to go to parks because the roads are pretty crappy. there are a lot of community things I like to go to so I think it would be fun to carve in and out of crowds. So I think I should get some sort of cruiser. probably not a penny because that's too small but I also do not definitely want a giant board, since it would be heavier and I couldn't really carry it comfortably anywhere. any boards you guys have in mind or any advice?

At your weight/height, if you were to go with the Pintail, the 40 would be the right size. If you're looking to cruise more than hitting hills (and depending on how steep your hills are), I'd say go with the Pintail 40. If you're looking to getting into different ride styles, like progressing into Freeride, the Drop Freeride has the edge over the Pintail. I started out on a Pintail, tackling smaller hills, so it is a great beginner option (the spring loaded trucks allow you to master carving). Have you checked out the Arbiter KT? That's another great option.

Hey TK, how tall and how heavy are you? Height and weight are the primary determining factors for choosing one length over another (though for other board styles that is not necessarily true). For the Pintails I always use myself as an example. I am 5'11 x 170lbs and I love me some Pintail 40. Its nice and flexy, though not too crazy and I feel like its just right. That said for taller / heavier guys and girls, or just people who like a longer deck, i'd go Pintail 43.

thekiller00987 Right on, I think I would lean toward either the 43 or the 46, though if you are doing purely flatland the Pintail 40 would be a much flexy-er option at 190lbs. The 43 and 46 are more built for your size (hey bigger dudes have more fun on bigger boards). I started a good friends brother on the 46 not too long ago, hes maybe 5'10 x 215ish and he loved it. You are a little smaller but the boards are nimble with Original trucks, I think you are on the right track.

Bought this board at 15 with my very first paycheck, only had enough money to buy the board, It was a wild ride, surfing up and down the neighborhoods, running from cops, and the group home, I'd be gone for days, skating fast and hiding from the law, nearly killed me going down hills, had a good time going down em too, still got the scars to remind me of the good times, Fast forward to 23, ran far and far somehow stumbled upon a protest, where a bunch of hippies made a big ass camp, tl;Dr someone broke into my car in Victoria bc, took my trusty pintail 40 and road off into the sunset while I was in jail, May that board bring joy to whoever rides it, that board has served me well and was my friend when I had none, Thank you When this whacky Adventure of mine has calmed down, I will buy another.

Bought my first surfboard by picking up clams off the bottom of barnegat bay in NJ, that board got stolen and I spent a bunch of time on my dad's old one and maybe more importantly on an extra wide shortboard deck that I did my best to visualize into a surfskate in 1995. Not sure the Pintail would have been around otherwise. Getting rung up for repping something you think important is about as OG as it gets, here's hoping you get out of that shit and get things headed where they should be headed: back out onto the hills and mountains for a much needed session. If you ever decide to get another one, hit us up first and I'll throw in one of the Pintail upgrades I've been working on since Covid locked us down (hopefully it's done hah!)
