@alexandriaspears8128 жыл бұрын
I was actually going to comment that too. It wasn't very metallic or shimmery, and I believe that's why. Also, the Physicians Formula highlighter she used for this DIY isn't that intense anyway, it's more of a "natural glow" kind of highlighter.
@zoeh40558 жыл бұрын
I agree, I feel like if they were shimmers and more pastel colours that it would come out more similar to the original
@RumerPriestly8 жыл бұрын
You know you're doing well when you say a highlighter was "ONLY" $22 😂 You could do this project MUCH cheaper than the original product. You don't need to be buying $18 eyeshadow palettes, you can get an 80 colour one online that has pastel shades much better suited to this project for about $5 online. And you'll still have about 73 colours to use afterward. The rest of the stuff you need is really inexpensive. You could get it all for less than 20 bucks. And no P&P charges!
@RumerPriestly8 жыл бұрын
Also, you'd be better to put the loose, dry powder into the compact and then press it with alcohol, rather than trying to work with wet, sludgy pigment. If you were trying it yourself.

Exactly - people complaining about how 'rich' she must be , don't seem to have the brains or the creativity to realise that these makeup DIY projects can be adapted to suit any budget. You could just buy the five or so colours you need as cheap individual chemist brand purchases, or if they can't find the few shades they need in individual pans, they can buy them in a cheap pallette that contains other shades they like which they can still use as eyeshadows, or in other makeup DIYs. It's not like she didn't mention that cheaper brands could be used ( even though some people are reacting as if she didn't ), but even then you'd think people who are clearly intelligent enough to use a computer could figure it out anyway? The things people chose to get angry over!

I'm going to have to say that the reason it didn't turn out as well is because you used a matte palette of eyeshadows. You probably would have been better off using very sparkly and/or cheap eyeshadow. Cheap, because the pigment won't be as strong!
@charongraves59328 жыл бұрын
my thoughts exactly. the matte quality of the eye shadow somewhat cancelled out some of the highlight quality. a shimmer or pastel shimmer eyeshadow selection might have worked a bit better as a highlighter component. that said the end result as she did it would be great for doing quick rainbow eyeshadow looks for pride events or similar.

You can use cheap dollar store pastel eyeshadows and get the same result - doesn't have to cost so much! And use eyeshadows that are already shimmery pastels, then use more highlighter/white eyeshadow. Because starting with a neon shade will make your rainbow highlighter way too bright, unless you use a crazy amount of white/highlighter in it and just a little bit of color. Also use more rubbing alcohol if you try this - you want it to really be a paste, not powdery at all! :)

I think it turned out really good for a first attempt (far better than I would do). As for the coloring, I don't think it was the wrong type of highlighter, I think perhaps the ratio of highlighter to color pigment was off. The original looks more like highlighter with color added to it than color with highlighter added to it. If I was going to try making this I would probably do like a 3 parts highlighter to one part eyeshadow. No idea if that would work better or not but I think it would add to the more prismatic shimmer look that the original has.

+Red both.. it's whoever is wearing it who rocks it. not the highlight rocking you.
@agathabowlinghart55468 жыл бұрын
+Red personally, whenever i go out wearing makeup i always wear a rainbow eyeliner. its not too noticeable so maybe the highlighter would not be that pigmented and maybe makes people double take? if you know what i mean haha

To everyone saying that using cheaper makeup would work just as well: If your skin will let you use cheap makeup go for it, but not everybody is as lucky as you are. When I first tried makeup I bought it from a dollar store. It resulted in a painful rash all over my face that didn't go away for a couple days even though I cleaned the makeup off pretty quickly. The makeup I use now is more expensive, but I'm not allergic to it so I'm fine with the extra cost. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

if you decide to try again, I'd say use the newest wet n wild highlighter and maybe use 2 of them instead of 1 and use 1/2 or 3/4 of the eyeshadow for color so it would have more of a highlighter effect.

Essence makes an eye shadow palette that is PERFECT for this! They're cheap, quite shimmery, and theres 6 pastel rainbow colors! Its what I used and it was perfect :) (I would also recommend getting a cheap highlighter or shimmery white eye shadow of some sort for cheap to mix with them - I used a shimmery essence eye shadow as well.)

You can make it like the store one it you buy the Merle Norman magical iridescent eyeshadow its the white and it turn any eyeshadow you have on your eye to that magical iridescent kinda look. So it would work perfectly as the base to a regular color to do the rainbow.

Suck It What you have to kind of put in perspective here is that this is part of Bunny's income. So things like this are essentially part of "production costs" in order for her to put on her show. She really isn't so much destroying expensive makeup so much as putting in an initial cost to produce the video if that makes sense.
