The laws for young people in America are so embarassing. A person under 18 can't purchase Sharpies, spray paint, or, apparently, whipped cream in some places, and a person under 21 can't drink alcohol. Yet a girl who is sixteen can get an abortion without her parents' consent and you can get married at 18 without consent.

The laws are in place to prevent those young adults from having access to products that they could use to "huff". Huffing is a way that some irresponsible young adults get high. All of those products that you mentioned above are used to get high by those previously mentioned young adults. The laws aren't embarrassing they are meant to protect those people who would use them to harm their bodies. This is the second time that the fact that the products were used to (GET HIGH) was mentioned. Oh, Hey Bunny!

My mom and I do a project similar to this with Girl Scouts and a kids creation station at a local art festival. We have done it on tshirts and pieces of fabric for bandanas and even coffee filters! Instead of a medicine dropper we use spray bottles and we also dilute the alcohol with water. Ends up being equal parts water and alcohol. You don't have to do just dots. You can write your name or draw a stick figure with one color and then spray the material with the solution and watch all the different colors bleed out of just one color. Watching the black sharpie bleed out is one of the coolest. This is a project for all ages!

We did a science lab like that in chemistry! It was like a mystery we had to solve about 5 people using different markers and a note that matched one marker, and we had to find out who wrote the note! (sorry if i am making no sense right now lol)

I'm in the UK and when I was in college worked in a department store selling cutlery and you have to be 16 or over to buy any kind of knife even just a butter knife. I remember being out somewhere with friends when we were teenagers too and being asked for I.D. when buying a red bull! Never heard of it for sharpies though.... I would have thought you would have more likely been I.D'd for the 91% alcohol!

Here in Germany you have to be at least 16 to buy red bull or any kind of energy drink. It's because they're dangerous in large quantities and a child died of it. When I first heard of it I thought it was ridiculous, too, but these laws exist to protect children (and people too stupid to realise drinking 10 cans of that stuff is not a good idea).

Daegwaith I don't think anyone cards for red bull or maybe I just have never seen it. There are tons of children (12-16) who drink them where I live. Though, I don't think they'd drink more than two since you actually have to throw up if you drink too much (Memories of my graduation D:). Glue, scissors, Edding (our version of Sharpie), perfume, butter knifes (like at Ikea or something) don't have an age restriction, at least none that is actually enforced. If you look old enough to look over the counter, you can buy it. If that's sensible or not, is another question.

I was thinking that, it's much more likely to get carded for the alcohol. Now I don't think you should be carded for cough syrup, even though people use it in bad ways, (I knew these kids at my school who were always on cough syrup) If i were to go to the store when I'm sick to buy cough syrup, I'd stupid if i couldn't buy it because I'm underage. you get carded because sharpies, paint, spray paint, etc, can be inhaled, so yes, in a way you could get "high" off of them. These items are easier for children to have access to rather than other substances that could get them 'high". So to try to further prevent this, stores now card when you buy items like those.

After the tie dye is dry I would spray a layer of waterproof sealant on top to keep the design nice if you accidentally get them wet. I think you can find this at craft stores, like Jo-ann's, Michaels hobby lobby, Walmart. You know whatever. ;)

i made my own a few months ago in the galaxy pattern. i used a spray bottle and instead of dots i just colored in the areas i wanted because i didn't like the dots all over the place. this works great with nock off converse as well which is what i used and they look awesome. off brand sharpies work but probably not as good. i used 70% alcohol and it still worked because i had no idea what percentage to get when I had the whim to do them.

The reason why they are so strict about buying sharpies is because if you sniff a sharpie you can get high off of it. so sharpies are banned in a lot of schools now because of that. To answer your color questions, yes if red hits is complementary color green it will make a shade of brown. But it can be a little more complicated than that because color does not function as a flat circle but more like a sphere with white and black located at the poles. But the center of the sphere is all shades of brown depending on what colors have been mixed together! Its very fascinating!
