Churches and Cathedrals should be made unfathomably beautiful, because they house the living body, soul and divinity of the Lord our God! ❤️🌹

Yes and no. They should always be sacred places, but they should lead us to God, not be so much that they distract us from him. Besides; the true temples of the living body, soul and divinity of the Lord our God which is made in his image and likeness and is meant to hold him inside and shine with his grace, glory and goodness is ourselves. After receiving communion, we are living tabernacles.

@@rschiwal I agree, it should not be for our own material wants but purely for the glory of God

Truth & Life App Matthew 6:19-21 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Treasures given to God detach you from said treasures.

The English word church comes from the Old English and German word kirche. This word has its origin in the Greek word kuriakos, which means “pertaining or belonging to the Lord.” It is used only twice in the New Testament, but on these occasions it is not translated in our English Bibles as church. In 1 Corinthians 11:20, it is used to refer to “the Lord’s supper,” and in Revelation 1:10, it is used to refer to “the Lord’s day.” The Greek word translated as church in our English Bibles is ekklesia. This word comes from the combination of two Greek words, ek meaning “out” and kaleo meaning “to call.” It could, therefore, be thought of as literally meaning “called-out (ones).” It was not a religious word, but would have been used either to refer to a group of people summoned together for a particular purpose, or more generally to any gathering of people. It is used in Acts 19 to refer to both a mass assembly of citizens (verses 32 and 41) and a legal assembly that could settle a dispute (verse 39). However, of the 115 times that ekklesia appears in the New Testament, those are the only three times that it does not specifically refer to the people of God, and where it is not translated in most English versions of the Bible as church. In the New Testament, Christians are often referred to as saints, translating the Greek word hagios, meaning “those who have been set apart and consecrated as holy" The church is not a building and no building houses the living body, soul or divinity of God. The people of God are the temple of the Lord

A delightful and intelligent dialogue. Dallas Jenkins, the producer of The Chosen & an Evangelical Protestant, while touring Rome with the actor who plays Jesus in this series, who is Catholic, opined that the beautiful churches, cathedrals & edifices there were a form of artistic worship.

Modern American Churches looks like protestant ones. And this video have picture of baroque church, I have serious doubt that any such one is in the whole USA. In the light of it, I feel something strange.

There is a Talk Show Host named Hugh Hewitt. He always calls himself a "Roman Catholic Presbyterian Evangelical". I have always liked that turn of phrase. That which unites Christians (Jesus) is so much greater than that which divides us.

I dont even know what a protestant is. Why would u become proteastant, if you have the same believe, and somebody destroys it (the church earlier) you turn ur back towards the church, but not your believe...

I was friends with a surgeon who was retired military. He was in Germany years ago with his young son. They were touring a Baroque cathedral. He was admiring the intricate architecture and carvings when he heard his son say, "A bit overdone, don't you think?" He looked up again and chuckled, "Yeah, I guess you're right."
@michaelibach90632 жыл бұрын
Overdone? You missed the point.

@@carolynkimberly4021 I don't think so. Cathedrals in the middle ages were built to glorify the city they were in as much as to glorify God. It was like the space-race of the day.

Some ppl might feel like this about Baroque. Baroque as a style is focused more on human, creation, opulence and on the other hand for example Gothic style focusses on God, heaven, eternity. Different ppl, different taste. Thank God there are still many different old catholic churches in Europe :)

Doesn’t baroque literally mean too much or overdone or overly complicated?

Your rational mind will never allow you to connect with God. It is an entirely different state of Being. I was an atheist for many years. All I can say is that our rational mind cannot conceptualize something so enormous outside of itself. When you feel that, when you connect with that you can't go back. God Bless you and keep you searching.
