I'm a fulltime DJ who gigs A LOT. Usually 3 to 4 times every week. I use the DDJ-800 and couldn't be happier. I used to use the SX2 but then moved to the SR2 because it was smaller. At many gigs, space is an issue. However, the 800 was the perfect upgrade from the SR2.

The 800 is a really good size! If I can fit the 1000 I usually take it to a gig. I even like using the 400 if the booth is really small.

Just to clarify these are all DJ controllers which only work with a Laptop using only Recordbox DJ. Only the DDJ-1000 & 800 work as a stand alone mixer. The DDJ-1000 has two USBs inputs to seamlessly switch been DJs as the 800 does not. All of these controllers are awesome! Thanks for watching

I’m a Old Skool DJ from the Technic’s Era , but I’m finally transitioning to using controllers. Started out using a Hercules DJ Mix Controller and still using that currently. Planning on purchasing the Pioneer DDJ 800 . Something about that controller just catches my eye. Definitely want that one !

You can use auxiliary with the DDJ-1000. All you have to do is use an RCA to auxiliary adapter. Plug the RCA into channel 3 or 4, switch that channel to line, and there you go.

Ok, so I just got the ddj400 controller to help pass the time during the covid era, but cant seem to get the microphone working out unto the laptop once its hooked up to the controller. I can hear the music playing and I can record the music, but nothing seems to work with the mic output. What's the purpose of having a mic input in the back of the controller if the software doesn't recognize it? Others recommended to change the settings on the laptop, but what's the sense if its not directly hooked to the mic. Can anyone find a remedy to help solve this puzzle?

When you first buy the DDJ 400 it’s then ok to upgrade in to the DDJ 1000. Here is the deal. If you upgrade into the DDJ 800 you wouldn’t find enough differences from the DDJ 400. But if you first get the DDJ 800 you would run in to the same issue upgrading to the DDJ 1000, plus the fact that you had already spent much money on the 800 it wouldn’t make any sense upgrading into the 1000 with not so many differences

i have this problem, I currently own the ddj 200 and want an upgrade. It's just that I started dj-ing half a year ago so i'm just a beginner, but i'm sick of the fact that i'm so dependant of my laptop. I don't know if I want to buy a 400 or a 800, because the 400 doesn't cost as much but I think it wouldn't take much time when I'd like to have another upgrade. @@theleye5370 if you’re tired of using the laptop i’m sorry to tell you that every model you mentioned needs a laptop/ipad to work. With that being said i’d highly recommend you to stop overthinking and get the 800. You’ll learn in short time. Plus you have an independent mixer built in with all the professionals input and outputs. Without mentioning all the other features the 400 can only dream about :)

The 1000 has a magvel crossfader which is known to be good for scratching and the DDJ-400 and 800 are most likely very similar

I wouldn't imagine it's anything crazy, there are more effects that can be applied at a single time but seeing as you'd only ever really be playing two decks, the hardware requirement upgrade would be pretty negligible.

Great Video! I have the Ddj 400 and 1000. I haven't even opened the 1000 box yet. Because the400 blew me away so much. I grew up with 1210s then moved to cdjs 800s mks. And currently have a mixed setup of a Cdj 850 and a old 1000 mk3. And a old school mixer that has no effects. Hence the reason why I got the 1000 as I can plug the Cdjs into the Ddj 1000 as a back up if anything was to malfunction with the laptop or controller decks. Always have a back up. I would love if pioneer would bring out a ddj 600 priced around 500 euro. Anyway good luck!

The 400 is a very appealing controller for the features it packed! The 800 is pretty sweet as it has a lot of similar features that the 1000 packs. I may end up selling my 1000 and keeping the 400 and the 800 :) you’ll fall in love with the 1000! I really hope pioneer releases a 600 next year.

Chase Me I currently have the ddj 400 as part of my home set up along with the pioneer dm 40 monitors and it’s in my opinion the best piece of gear I’ve had and I used to own the cdj850’s with a djm700. as much as I liked those the ddj400 is way better when it comes to performance features. 1000 is just much better than all of them. No point buying the cheaper ones unless you need portability or the ability to do bus power only. Money is no object as the 1000 is under 1200 and most can afford that on finance deals easy. The 1000 is portable in a carry case and you can just put it on top of whatever is there easy enough.

Strip out version of earlier controllers from pioneer. NO master filter, NO second FX controls, only 1 fx per deck select or master, for exemple you can not selec FX ON on deck 1 and 2 and leave 3 and 4 without FX, LOOP is made worse, on DDJ RZX, DDJ RZ, DDK RX, DDJ RR looping was perfect(you have buttons to select loop size and button to activate and deactivate loop) now you can chose to map auto loop size for exemple 4 bars and when you press ACTIVATE LOOP button it always will activate 4 bar loop, there is no loops size select buttons on controler and no maping option of them. When you use PAD FX there is no parameter buttons, but you can map it (as I am) on SEARCH track buttons (exemple: use 1/2 echo or beat roll , pres button to make it smaler or bigger 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 or 1, 3/4, 2, 4...) there is no sampler colour FX knob as on DDJ RZ DDJ RZX, there is no master colour FX knob, there is no NEEDLE SEARCH, there is no REC and PLAY and SLOT buttons for SAMPLER, there is no PAUSE stop time knob, key shift buttons, no KEY SYNC button... Becouse DDJ 800 have more buttons i bought it insted of DDJ 1000 but I so regret selling DDJ RZ, and olso regret why i didnt bought used DDJ RX insted new DDJ 800...

Some people might not like my saying this, but I'm going to. If you want a real controller that you'll enjoy immensely, go with either the 1000 or the 800. The 400 is crap compared to the other two aforementioned. I suppose that if one is desperate to own a controller but on an extremely TIGHT budget, then they could go with the cheap plastic and crampy 400. The thing is that once you've played around with the likes of a much better controller (e.g., the 800), there's no going backwards, IMO.
