Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX6 Unboxing | First look with Serato

people mentioning that this is a 'toy' - well it's not aimed at the pro's, it is purely designed so that when you have decided that you feel confident with the DDJ-400/DDJ-SB3, you can get the FLX6, this introduces you to 4CH and as the video says 'club standard' jog wheels. This means to can practice emulating the Jog wheels found on the nexus 2000/ 3000. Merge effects is a gimmick yes but what it allows you to do is play around with those style of 'transitional' effects to help you learn transitions. The point here is to learn, I know some people actually use beginner stuff even when pro (yes looking at you here Pri!) for other reasons. I think the Dual licence is a winner, personally I prefer Serato but no doubt about it Rekordbox is a solid piece of software. As many other channels have stated, we do need that DDJ-600 launched which is missing and of course a serato version of the 800 / 400.

Just got this thanks for the simple but precise explanation of how the features work - for the price you get a banging controller the jogs are impressive … it’s got booth out still and for a lot it’s enough .. perfect for me at home doing my radio shows and online streams gives me a lot of creativity

Entry level or not. For this price you get a controler compatible with Serato and Rekordbox. Full size jog wheels and nice features. Merge FX, and all the coll stuff that are on pro mixing Pioneers like MDJ and CDJ nexus. So i vouldn't agree on the word entry level. Higher entry level maybe. Best regards from Slovenia.

I have my reloop rp 4000 mk2's and numark scratch up for sale as its not getting used enough. I would like to go back to a controller. Someone asked would i swap my stuff for the flx6 😂

I just got the FLX6, I really like it. The only question from my side is: Is there an update planned to configure your own merge effects like in rekordbox? Because I prefer serato, but this is a big lack in my opinion.

Just jad a go on this using rekordbox in GAK - i thought id hate it but i kinda like it... Ive not had a pioneer controller before, i want to know: the beat fx i used on this in rekordbox, will they work the same/sound the same in serato? Or will serato have different fx thst function differently? I have a numark controller and the delay on it in serato is pants. Also, the way the fx works with the release button - will that function exactly the same in serato as it does in rekordbox?

I agree with you; this controller represents how many DJs mix; sequences aren't always in tempo and they jump frequently from a gender to another, using multi-effects and remixing a track instantly with CUE and samples. It's just a different way to practice. And finally, Pioneer will review the price of products in its DJ range, that's good news !

If you want RGB pads, there are choices for the professional gigging DJs. 800, SR2, SX3, 1000, 1000SRT, SZ, RZ, RZX, ect.

It's not a professional controller mean for gigging like the DDJ-1000. It's half the price and meant as an upgrade for the DDJ-400 users to a 4 channel and large jog configuration.

Pile of poo: lacks professional inputs and outputs; case is completely plastic; controller isn't optimized for Serato Pro (it's only optimized for rekordbox); performance pads are too small for something priced at 600 USD; though the jog wheels are mechanically good, they're completely plastic; and, the tempo faders are essentially the exact same quality and size as on the DDJ-400, a 250 USD controller. If one is contemplating spending at least 600 USD on a controller, it is advised that they look at other, smarter options.
