jerville1 my foot standalones. I had many standalones....... maschine ableton are killer period... and if screen hit your eyes. Maschine has screen now as well and plus he’ll lot of features which pioneer needs 10 years more to add in standalone.. soon they will come with software like Rekordbox which which will add sampler controller .. pioneer is playing both the ways nw.. if you say Mpc live thn I can understand.. And look at the price difference and pls djs 1000 won’t have any resale value like toraiz ...

sure but for the same price I can buy Maschine MK2 (or MK3 now) + a laptop good enough and probably some extension, and I'll have 100x more possibility of sound (and even more possibility if I buy a push for Ableton). Their DJ product are expensive because you pay the brand and got (supposedly) quality product (unless you use their DVS system...), and as a leading standard brand they can have this price politic. But in the production game they are new and need to make their proof, and releasing hardware with the same price politic as in the DJ buisiness is not a good method if they want to seduce producer (the one who buy stuff, not the one who get them with sponsorship).

dude. Denon rekt their CDJ specs. This was sampler category and sequencer where I could buy some elektribe 2 than this. Even Traktor got this on their software and map it all over your random midi controller. Oh it was years ago pioneer didn't give any attention to tech and analog dj's where Traktor did hear them out. Denon won't go into Traktors way Bro. Denon will keep it on CDJ line up.

The one thing I don't understand is why you guys didn't make a mixer made specifically for the sampling units. and the other thing is why you haven't made a synthesizer for an analog digital drum machine in this DJS format. I was sitting around thinking one day. And I thought to myself I wish I had the novation peak in a djs-1000 format. to have a mixer sampler synthesizer and drum machine in that format that's what the new modern electronic musician should look like.

THIS MACHINE IS NOT FOR music production really. Look at the TORIAZ Sp 16 , The sequencer midi wise is severely crippled poor polyphony, I have a Yamaha rs 7000 released in 2001 is better for production, my toriaz 16 is now just a glorified hard drive for samples. An Akai mpc 500 is a more capable production station and can be bought for 250 bucks. Mpc500 and Korg gadget better combo than sp16. Until we see the 1.4 update and still the sp16 32 second sample limit as stated by pioneer will not be changed. $1400 for 32 seconds sampling time , Mpc 500 Has 136 seconds sampling time . And you can buy them for 250 bucks nowadays their is no excuse for 32 seconds sampling time on a $1400 product in 2017. NONE!!!!!!!!!!

Its the 4 bar limit that put me off buying the toriaz, I have the rm1x (basically an rs 7000 minus sampling) but even that old thing withs its floppy disk drive had a 256 bars limit. Never had problems with polyphony with that and my emu sampler.

apparently the max recording length is 32 sec (page 25 of the manual : docs.pioneerdj.com/Manuals/DJS_1000_DRI1489A_manual/ ) so we can expect that it's also the maximum for uploaded sample length. which is ok but not ok. it's plenty enough for a single instrument, but it's far from enough for a song-long stem, which would have been very handy.

interesting this raises a few question though : - how is managed internal mixing & "mastering" ? what are the processes available and their quality ? (I know it will be never as good as a DAW with plugins chosen by the user, but the question is : where is it on a scale from toy to acceptable in live conditions ?) - what are the technical limitations in terms of sample length, memory, etc.... ? - is it possible to do advanced cue juggling on a single track ? i.e. each pad controlling hotcues / loops of a single audio file, plenty of them (not just 2*4 on tiny buttons like with the nxs2). or alternatively controlling several audio files of a same bank, all cutting each other and loadable at once, like one single file. on a live performance POV this could be a great alternative to having to carry your own hardware. or a total joke. depending on the technical limitations and available processes. on an DJ POV it would be great for non-classical performers (like me) who feel limited by the current available standalone hardware, especially in terms of number of cue points, loops, etc and their accessibility. but is it even possible to use these pieces of hardware this way ?

troubl3gum the DJS1000 is a sampler, so the "mix and master quality" is only as good as thr samples you feed it. if youre prepping your own samples from music you recorded, it will sound exactly like you want it to.

Many SP16 owners are fuming about the 1.4 update on Facebook. Pioneer played us bad by postponing the update so they could introduce the DJS and to put more fuel to the fire they removed the promised live sampling feature so they can sell the DJS. Very bad move they will loose many customers!
