In this video I review Pioneer's Panda backpack. This is a very strong, well constructed contender for the travel backpack scene. Backed by a 'million mile guarantee;, this backpack feels like it can survive countless travels and managed to really impress me.

Personally I like the zippers and fabric better than my Tumi bags, I am just glad someone is giving Tumi some competition in the business bag section of the market.

You do such a good job of reviewing these bags. I find myself watching all the way through, even when I had planned to just get the highlights. However, this bag looks like it wants to be the Tumi Brief Pack. Additionally, there are some special points that the brief pack has that this bag does not. One thing this pack has is that the brief pack pokes out quite a bit, whereas this one doesn’t seem to stick out as much. The brief pack is sturdier and seems to have better materials. Now, I am not being biased, I don’t think. I don’t even own a Tumi Brief Pack. I got the London, and I love using it for travel (even though the Brief Pack has better and more usable pockets, haha). For the reasons I mentioned, while I was looking forward to the review because the bag really does look great, it turns out that it is just not. It is cheaper than the brief pack, but I think I would wait and/or find one either second hand or just wait for a sale, rather than put the money into this bag and find myself wishing I had the extra features that make the Tumi Brief Pack superior. That is my take, and it is absolutely NOT the gospel truth.....just my opinion haha. What do you think about it? Do you agree with anything I have said? Do you see any flaws in my reasoning? I’d love to get your thoughts. Great video as usual. Looking forward to more when the next one drops!

Good take. This bag is slimmer and more comfortable than a brief pack indeed, i hated wearing a brief pack because i found them uncomfortable. However Tumi bags in general offer smoother, more refined materials and features that Pioneer isn't currently offering. If I was taking a camping, rough, or hot-climate trip though, I would heavily consider using the Panda because of how indestructible it feels, whereas I would feel like I'm abusing a Tumi lol. Due to the electronics i carry, my day-to-day life is more comfortable in a slim Tumi like the Navigation though. I think both brand's have different focuses and after using the Panda, I can't knock it

@@BioGear I get what you mean about the brief pack. given how much it costs - comfort has to be there at a minimum. Some people swear by them but I have not found that I like it. I keep wondering though. Maybe one day haha. I think I agree about the Panda for long wear as the brief pack - even if it was comfortable for me I think kit still sticks out so much that I would be quite self conscious. I am 6'2" and already feel like I am carrying 2 people when I have a large backpack on haha. . It is for going through airports rather than actually wearing on the back for long periods. For all day carry something else is better. I watched your Navigation and Search videos and ended up getting the Navigation Leather in the brown pebbled leather. It is a thing of beauty and for all day carry it is really good. It does NOT let me pack it out too much but they have really done a great job with the straps. Making them 3 wide instead of just 2 is a game changer. The bag itself is excellent and compares really well with the bags of old. Gotta say the Kingsville and London are the most comfortable though - especially packed out with kit. Both are a joy to use through the airport or walking through town.

Hard to justify the price over the Targus Mobile Elite Backpack. Its under $40 from Lenovo. You can buy ten of them for the same price.

Akin to the alpha 3 briefpack, wish it had an option for a chest sternum strap.

Hi just wonder is it too heavy to carry the tumi one with laptops and etc everyday? This one looks way less heavier

What Tumi accessories are these in the video? The toiletry bag looks really cool. Thanks for the video I was just looking at the Duration Pack as an option. Keep up with the good content. Cheers

The blue was a cosmetic bag, can’t remember the name of it but it was actually a perfect cable bag which is why I use it. The toiletry kit is now called the Reno I believe, also a great kit!

Would you recommend the Panda Pack or the Tumi Search? I travel for work for about 8 days at a time and I like both but cannot seem to decide if the Tumi is worth the premium.

@@toms879 I like the search a lot but not as much in the nylon as it’s too soft. If you got one of the stiffer fabric options it’s well worth it. Otherwise the panda is a nice bag but not as premium on the materials as the search, the panda is definitely a rugged option though and will take a ton of abuse.

Tumi or this ? I’m thinking about the tumi nomadic
@BioGear

Hard call, the nomadic is my personal favorite travel backpack. The panda was impressive though, and felt a bit more rugged, but the nomadic has more pockets and organization. You won’t be wrong for picking either imo

What do you think as a comparison to Tumi? Feel like it's close enough in price, is it worth it to go with an unknown brand?

If the priority is durability over elegance, I’d consider them, the bags feel strong. Pioneer is new to me so only time will tell. I’d like to see them continue to evolve.

I like how Pioneer website shows the $395 price in a small but "muted out gray" colored font to make you spit out your drink less. 🤣. Thanks but no thanks.. if I wanted an expensive pack, I'll throw my money away to TUMI.
