Lovely work. Out of interest why use nail varnish instead of super glue or something. Also how long did the repair take in real time.

Thanks for the compliment. I use Nail Varnish as it can be removed using acetone if necessary, Superglue makes for a permanent fix or permanent failure!. Plus, the wife has more than she can ever use 🤣 The total time video'd was 1 hour and 12 minutes, which is about right in real terms. If I hadn't been bothered about videoing the repair, it probably would have been less, as I expected the no-play fault to be the lens. That's called experience 😉

I used to use nail polish on tape heads after alignment to keep the screw set!

Hi, Chas I have the same model cd player the lens is still intact it tries to load disks, but there is no spinning so moves on to next disk until it goes through all six then stops. I have no idea what is going wrong it's just frustrating.

If the disc does not spin, it's not achieving focus. Either the lens is dirty or damaged, the laser is low or faulty. Replacing the optical block is the only way to prove it.

Just realised that I had disks wrong way up instead of upside down, tried again turning disks around & is working now. 😉 was purchased at a charity shop so had no idea which way disks went, appreciate your reply though so thanx.
