The PL-12D was the budget wonder of the 1970's. When you only had $100 for a record player but you lusted after something more than a BSR changer, it was next to impossible to beat the PL-12D, it performed so far above it's price point...and they were everywhere. Pacific Stereo had them stacked up by the doors. Back than, if you bought a receiver and speakers, they would give you the PL-12D (minus the cartridge of course). I had one with an Empire 2000e/III and it was a great machine for what it was.
@Sladovsky12 жыл бұрын
Useful background story behind the PL-12D. I've restored my PL-12D recently and got a classic receiver Pioneer SX-424. It's all hooked up to my Tannoy Mercury M2. Seems to be working well soundwise. The sound that comes out of the whole set up is warm, nice and deep.

Marcin, this is very beautiful. How is the Ortofon Red Cartridge, styulus and headshell on this table? Is the removal of the suspension table difficult? I am considering work on 2 Pioneers PL's. One is fully manual PL-12D with an excellent tonearm. The other is a PL-10 with the lifting lever but otherwise manual. The PL-10 tonearm is rougher. I was considering a swap of the tonearms but I am a little daunted.
@woodeffectmarcinwyszecki12064 жыл бұрын
Hi, I used the Ortofon bronze cartridge. A friend replaced the cartridge, wiring and made the calibration. Removal from the housing is simple, just remove the plate. From underneath, loosen the two screws and shift the two locks. The whole can then be lifted upwards out of the housing.
