Now that I have "Great America" and "Ordinary Europe" up, can anyone tell me where to find "Okay Asia", "Above-Average Africa", & "Decent Antarctica"? 😄

Just discovered your channel not too long ago and I'm absolutely fascinated. Seeing HD video from the 90s that isn't on film is mind-blowing! You should definitely make an Internet Archive account to preserve these rips uncompressed.

Thanks so much for sharing this stuff. Taking the time to properly capture it and present it to the world is fantastic. I'd gladly sponsor you on Patreon to obtain other rarities like this (and HQ source files!)

Do you maybe have 1080i HD MUSE Hi-Vision Laserdisc Footage of 90s Russia?
@dommovedchannels62683 жыл бұрын
None exists most likely. After the collapse of the USSR, crime and gang violence skyrocketed. It would have been suicide to visit Russia at that time.
@SL4RK2 жыл бұрын
@@dommovedchannels6268 Yes, you are right, in Russia then there was total poverty, even television was in decline at that time, I don't think anyone cared about tourists from abroad especially with expensive video cameras.
@eccIefechan Жыл бұрын
@@dommovedchannels6268 That's a huge exaggeration. It wasn't THAT bad. In many ways you're more likely to face serious problems as a foreigner with a camera nowadays, from the 'authorities'. In the 90s there was significant organised crime and the economic situation was very shaky, but there wasn't 'gang violence' like you get in Latin America for example and it was ever changing. Putinist propaganda loves to exaggerate how bad the 90s were. It wasn't good for sure, but at least there was hope and a future. Not a fascist dictatorship like now.
@eccIefechan Жыл бұрын
@@SL4RK User 'docukino' has high quality videos taken in Russia in the 90s. It's not HD footage, but it's excellent for the time and clearly with expensive cameras. No one attacked them!
@kurilrick220712 күн бұрын
@@eccIefechan You call the justified criticism of Russia in the 90s "Putinist propaganda", while you believe that there is a fascist regime in Russia now. I wish you were a bit more self-aware of yourself being brainwashed (I just noticed that you are from Ukraine. That actually explains a lot)

I once had a Pioneer DVD demostration disc, which included the same video and music. It was really pity that I got the DVD demo disc lost and never had a chance to buy the same one. from Guangzhou, China

Wow, back when 1080i/p was so soft. I bet a good upscale, with or without AI, could do wonders though. I don't even think I want to blame KZbin this time, which I usually do with studio-quality content at a given resolution SD or HD. Normally you have to go 2 levels up to retain all the detail, i.e. 1080p for 576i, and 4K for 1080i.

Looks almost as sharp as early 2000s dvd. This would've blown me away in 1993.
@diogofaria59652 жыл бұрын
This definitely looks sharper than DVD ever did. I'd say this looks slightly worse than early Blu-ray releases. The main issue with this system is the double interlacing method, which results in severe blurring with moving objects

Thanks for these great videos! I wonder if the aspect ratio is correct, some sources say it should be 15:9.
@ReelyInteresting3 жыл бұрын
Nice catch! Yeah, my AR is off but it should be 16:9, not 15:9. I'll see if I can fix this on future uploads. The old 5:3 AR applied only to video shot on analog HDVS (see my Coral Story upload)

Not trying to sound nostalgic, but analog HD then looked way better to my eyes than digital HD. Now everything looks like a soap opera with too much brightness it hurts my eyes and looks really dull. I'm interested in hearing opinions.
